Another blog in the world that is MK1 Focuses... this time I highlight an issue I have previously mentioned, but as the rain continues I'm making some further detail to help owners solve this issue!

Black silicone sealer works great and it’s mould resistance, been doing it for years cheap and available anywhere😊

Straight to the point. :-)) I change cab filter every year. What about the seals? Well, I use special rtv silicone sealant between the windshield and that plastic cover, to protect that bloody filter. Once a year, problem solved. (btw someone says: I should change pollen filter twice a year.. well, I don't think so. Twice a year is excessive a bit)

Unless you live in a dirty environment the filter should be changed every 1-2 years.

Tell me about it, I chucked mine away 5 years ago, had all the rot cut out and welded, brushed it back to good metal. Zinc primer and waxoyl and they are perfectly fine today. However there is someone who took his liners off, clean, washed and dried them. Then applied either fibreglass or some hard resin so the liners could not absorb water and were a little harder. For me this is a decent alternative, even though the whole reason to have the liners is sound deafening. I'm not sure whether this would benefit in that respect.

Last time I bought a pollen filter it was from ebay and came with butyl strips and 3 plastic clips that are overkill but hell to replace with the brittle ones if you don't have them. It was about 15 quid all included with instructions. The Ford stealerships did many a shit job and everyone had flooded passenger footwells because they didn't replace the butyl strips. DIY everytime.

Yes I remember the kits, the clips do break occasionally but if your gentle you should be fine. That's really bad from the stealerships they should know better! After all your paying through the nose

Is the foam seal in the link for the bottom of the pollen filter of between the window and scuttle panel ? Thanks

It is... looks small doesn't it! That's why people have not regarded it as important and hence their car now leaks.
