Perfectly good, practical vehicle. What I liked most about this review was the casual admission that fuel economy figures for petrol and diesel engines are pie in the sky. I get fed up of the huge play made about electric vehicles and quoted ranges completely disregarding that if you have the ability to charge at home that there is any issue at all except for the claimed 99% of people who drive 500 miles per day, every day. 🤔🤣🤣🤣 As it happens, our EV (a VW as it happens) returns far closer to the claimed range than the 20% shortfall found in this car even in the winter but petrol heads will ignore such realities.

An EV maybe useful for domestic use but as a work horse they are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot..ask the fleet leasing companies how many evs get sent back really quickly...most trades can't be wrong....

Smart informative review. I have this “Active” trim Grand Tourneo on order (2L diesel, auto). As mentioned in previous comments it would have been nice to have a powered tailgate, but my fully Ford “van” version of the Grand Tourneo, which this vehicle is to replace lacked a powered tailgate too. Another small detraction is that to have a reversing camera factory fitted as an option requires buying an expensive added equipment pack, the camera is an essential for me (disability). Although the pack has other add on benefits, notably the headlights. I considered the Berlingo but I’m not as yet convinced about EV’s. Thank you for the information.

If I was you just check they are still building them as they are not available to order now with an automatic box now! Not even sure they are still been built for the orders that they already have!! But got to agree about extra pack for camera etc!!

Been looking at one, but I'm considering the petrol as diesel less and less popular in certain places. The Berlingo sadly not available in XL on motability and M is too small.

Looks great for the disabled but for a glaring omission. You cannot get the enormous tailgate powered. It's not even on the options list even as a VW Caddy.

Without doubt a great car compared to the VW as far as value for money is concerned, But peal back the skin and I think you'd have to be bananas not to go for the Berlingo. Great review Rebecca and thanks for sharing. A great banana outfit as well.

Nice one Tony. Just a quick question - how can one buy a new diesel or petrol Berlingo?

@@z00h That's a really good point, I just checked the Vauxhall, Citroen and Peugeot web sites and the new ones are all powered by sparks. I didn't realise that the fossil burners had gone. Well it looks like electric only for new models. Many thanks for correcting me. Much appreciated.
@z00h

@@anthonystevens8683 no worries. Just FYR Toyota still offer their version of Berlingo with ICE powertrains. And Vauxhall, Citroen and Peugeot offer "commercial" variants - some of which have 5 seats but aren't as posh inside as the non-commercial ones. Still, it's a bloody shame, that they're gone.

@@z00h Many thanks for the info, much appreciated. As you say it's a shame that the Stellantis group have phased out the ICE models out. Still great cars but expensive with range anxiety being an issue for me at the moment I'll take a look at the Toyota and commercial options.

The previous incarnation imo was a much better looking car. I have recently got rid of a Ford courier with a diesel engine which had only covered 13K miles. The new emissions regs played havoc with its dpf and from what Ford told me their diesels need regular long runs, although they could not quantify what a long journey was. More needs to be said about these issues and given my experience with Ford diesels I would give them a miss.

I have the previous Ford Tourneo Connect. It's a fantastic car for famlies. But seeing this beeing a Caddy ... i think there are also a lot of downgrades. The window lines from the side are just ugly and it's the same as a VW Caddy. Also: no electric windows in the second row? Wat the !? I don't think this is a good successor. It's not bad, but for existing customers, no. I'm not impressed.

My Wife is unhappy with her Edge. She was going to trade it in for a Transit Connect. Finding one in the USA, proved to be impossible, in an upgraded model. Also the 2.0L Engine scared me off. Been there, done that on an underpowered car. Multiple Engine and Transmission Failures.

This is not a Ford. It is a VW Caddy with the grille changed and all the bad things. Stupid touchscreen infotainment, big low powered diesel engine, low powered petrol engine,no hybrid. If you look at the engine specs it looks like a car from 20 years ago.

Exactly, I have a previous gen Ford Tourneo Connect and I'm not going to buy this one. This is not an upgrade at all. It's indeed a VW Caddy. I'm not saying the quality is bad, but there was nothing wrong with the one developed by Ford. There aren't even roll down windows for the second row... . Previous mirrors are better, ... and as she mentioned, it doesnt drive like a ford. What where they thinking??? Oh yes ... they where thinking in money.

Ford are slowly giving up on Europe - starts with outsourcing products like this. They used to pretty much own the U.K. market in every segment - now I think a majority of buyers wouldn’t even remember Ford were a thing when considering which showrooms to visit.

Avoid this car it's cheap rubbish, I have one on lease. The temperature controls are not illuminated and located with the radio volume so it's almost impossible to alter the temp without increasing the volume. The fan speed has no direct access, one must press a button or icon then move a slide bar on the screen, very fiddly while driving. The unbelievable design flaw is the temp and volume controls being unlit are impossible to see and operate properly at night, you have to take your eyes off the road to adjust then reset everything you accidentally pressed, it's a joke. The governments vehicles safety department advises "stop the car to adjust the temperature" the car is so cheap you don't even get a first aid kit - in a family car!!!!! The engines couldn't be more uneconomical. Don't buy or lease this car it is utter garbage

I think you are mistaken re the temp control...the temp is illuminated on the touch screen and when you move your hand towards it the +and- are also illuminated...the radio slider is quite easy to use but there are volume controls on the steering wheel also and the slider for the fan isn't particularly difficult...no more difficult than changing a radio station (although you can also do that on the steering wheel too..
