Way to be a big boss bubba! You took care of your guy and got the load sorted! As for the CP4 Ram has the same issue and it all stems from lack of lubricity in our ultra low sulfur fuels! There is only one thing that lubricates the CP4 pump that is used on Ford, Chevy and Ram diesels and that is diesel fuel. So if for any reason there is no fuel to lubricate, like from water or air bubbles, that means no lubrication. Added to that, a reduction of sulfur in the fuel which now lowers lubricity, current fuel cannot meet lubrication standards. Then demand more power from your diesel which adds more stress on the pump and arguably a poorer designed pump from the CP3 and we are now with this problem. The sad part is this happen years before before when the EPA started lowering sulfur levels, pumps where going bad from a lack of lubrication.

Your exactly right on the lubericity issue - I used to work in northern Alaska in the oil patch - I worked with large diesel engines - 645 cu inch per cylinder and 20 cylinders-3600 hp. I heard they were having to change the fuel receipy and was told it was going to be quite a bit dryer .-- so I ordered all my equipment fuled to the max and since they were all emergency generators we didn't have to run them except for test and power outage... when the new fuel batch came out it was so dry they couldn't even keep the fuel truck running to deliver the crap -- the oil company had to get a waiver from the state to be able keep equipment even running - even at that when I changed injectors I would loose about 2 injectors in a set of 20. I asked my rebuilder if they could build my injectors with more tolerances and they said they could - after that I never lost any more injectors. I understand the theory behind wanting to inject very high pressure fuel - however I believe the high pressure oil system like was used in the fords was much more reliable and less expensive to trouble shoot and repair..

This is why CP3 conversions are so popular on TDI's and Duramax's and why Cummins waited to the last minute to "upgrade" to CP4's. Rock solid reliability. For the new Powerstroke the CP3 won't physically fit but you can get a CP3 add on that will work in tandem with your CP4 and will take over if the CP4 fails but just having another pump in parallel cuts its load in half and will extend the life of the CP4.

It’s great how even when things are going wrong, you seem to have no problem figuring it out and pushing through! I did the same whenever I had breakdowns. Maybe a few swear words at first but that’s normal. Takes a lot to keep a cool head when the frustration gets high especially for a situation you’re not there to personally deal with. Had similar problem with my insurance roadside assistance. Estimated 90 minutes, I call after 120 (2hrs). Tow company phone kept ringing and going to voicemail so I called insurance back they tried and got voicemail as well and dispatched a new tow company to get my truck. The new company said 90 minutes and they weren’t the ones who showed up, but they were right on schedule. Turns out the second company was too busy so they personally called out a company even closer to me and paid their competitor to come get me. Talk about customer service! When one tow company can’t make it so they personally dispatch out a different company knowing it’s an insurance roadside assistance claim for a breakdown meaning it’s a pain and doesn’t pay well. The driver was great but said he hated insurance calls because my insurance sent them the wrong location on the other end of town 8 miles out, but even then the driver still rolled in exactly on schedule. By the time that company showed up I finally heard from the first and they were full of excuses and said they’d get a driver to me in 20 minutes after asking if I still needed a tow THREE HOURS AFTER THEY WERE ORIGINALLY CALLED BY MY INSURANCE. I had a few kind words for them and told them forget my insurance sent out a better company who was actually capable of getting the job done. My only complaint was second company didn’t call to tell me to expect a different company again that wasn’t them but I left them a good online review for taking customer care over greed by farming out the tow to their competitor. Left the company who actually showed up a good review as well and left the original a horrible one. I wasn’t the only insurance caller that had huge time delays with that original company called “RUSH2YOU” towing. I knew right away by the name not to be confident in them lol because they did the exact opposite of their name.

Here's how you greatly reduce the chance of a CP4 failure: 1. Always buy your fuel from a clean, high-turnover station, preferably one used regularly by Truckers. If possible, fill up before you get below 1/4 tank to reduce the chance of introducing air into the intake. 2. Always run a fuel additive such as Hotshot Secrets or Shaefers Diesel treatment. 3. Always change your fuel filters on time or early using OEM elements. Keep the water trap drained in between. 4. Add a pre-filter lift pump if your truck does not have one. 5. Run Biodiesel (B5 or B20) whenever possible. Studies have shown that even a small amount of biodisel greatly increases lubricity. It also keeps your fuel system clean. 6. Do NOT add the things to your fuel that people used to add to older engines (pre 2017). These things are NOT ok in modern engines and emissions systems: ATF, two stroke oil, engine oil, Marval Mystery Oil, etc.

It sad to say but I can see them going out of business in the future if they don’t get their shit together because ford is kicking their ass right now for sure but as for ram I don’t know enough about them to know wether not they are kicking gms as right now as well but wouldn’t surprise me lol. Gm owner buy the way drive my gmc everyday and love it.

If RAMs such a turd why is 90% of all hot shot trucks I see are RAM s ? All construction and landscape companies have switched to RAM. Proofs in the pudding not bullshit talk. I run 3 RAMs everyday and don’t have problems. Two are gas burners with over 250,000 and the Cummins has 284,000.

Have you kept track of all the breakdowns you've had on trailers and trucks along the way? It would be interesting to see a video of how much unscheduled maintenance costs you've had during all of this, and also to see what are common and/or reoccurring issues.

If you own the F350 and it goes into the dealership for warranty work, will the dealership give you one to replace it while they do the repairs? I guess it wouldn’t be set up to tow your trailer though. I recently had a torque converter and transmission replaced under warranty. Car only had 60k on it. Dealership gave me a free rental while they worked on my car for a week.

Rare. Neighbor had traded his pickup for new Dodge. @13k major breakdown. He asked for his old truck until new one fixed. They had 51 excuses why not. Cars are not work trucks. But I had no issue taking it out over long weekend to “check it out”. My “expert” evaluated it hooked to the trailer it normally pulled. ;).

Hi Alex sorry for the situation you find yourself in please make it a company policy to use a fuel additive on each and every fill-up i have used Lucas fuel additive you can purchase it in all Walmart's and it really helps with the current quality of diesel i also use Lucas pure synthetic oil additive every oil change it might be something you may consider for the new truck it helps lubrication in hard working turbos As always God bless you and keep safe out there 🙋♂️ 🇬🇧

What made that truck an oversized load? It didn’t seem too wide. Maybe you should add a 1950s one to your fleet. Easy to repair.

Anything wider than the trailer, is considered oversized. Whatever was in front of the truck was wider then the trailern

Bosch does. And they never will fix it. The CP4 has been out since 2011, used on both Duramax and Powerstroke and now Cummins. It’s likely cheaper to do the warranty work than to develop a new pump, just like Ford did with the 6.0

Dude to be honest with you I’ve had my 6.7 since 14 and literally only put fuel at 2 places. After this vlog just really gets you thinking. These are some high dollar rigs and for something like that to happen is catastrophic. I’m at 132K miles and the only time it crapped on me is when before I deleted it and tuned. My EGR just took a whole shit on i45. I think what tends to happen a lot of times. Drivers the non owners don’t use as much precaution on rig maintenance as owners do. Ya know shit after this man. I’m definitely putting more of an eagle eye on my Fuel system.

same exact thing happen to my 2020 ram at 17000 miles. cp4 blew and it was all over...truck died and would start for two seconds and make some crazy noises and then died. enterprise roadside service is AWFUL. i had a truck and 40ft fifth wheel and they sent out some newbie desiel mechanic and then a car sized tow truck.....they had to OUT SOURCE for a heavy duty wrecker...when he got there he attempted to pick the truck up and busted the oil pan -_- whole ordeal took like 5 FREAKIN HOURS!!

And another reason is bc they don’t use TOWBOOK!!! Tow companies get towbook and it will digitally dispatch your calls. The only problem that ever happens is that they don’t put the info but all the other shit is bc they didn’t have towbook.

Almost every cp4 failure is related to poor fuel quality, water in fuel or Def put in fuel by mistake. Many stations do not regulate cetane numbers and have bad fuel always use an additive in trucks with the high pressure fuel systems

All these new trucks have problems. Sometimes I think it would be best to buy the trucks that have a 100k on them because by that point all the b.s. technical problems should be fixed. Let's face it the mechanical aspects of these trucks are usually not the problem it's the high tech b.s. that controls the mechanical! Eeerrrrr!!!!
@motoXkiddvlogs4 жыл бұрын
Nothing to do with electrical here lol, it's literally the high-pressure fuel pump... It fails due to high tolerances its under 30000+ PSI at WOT, any issues with fuel (the lubrication to the pump itself) will cause it to self destruct.

@roadsideguy59022 жыл бұрын
I am a owner of a roadside service company. I have been in this industry for 15 years. Swoop is now the largest roadside provider there is AKA car club. That means they are in charge of the majority of roadside service calls being dispatched. Unfortunately they are not stupid at all. The entire med duty heavy duty tow truck is coming it wasn't updated crap is all lies. They do that to charge a goa fee to enterprise for sending a truck. But I promise no Tru was ever sent towards you. They knew when they accepted the call for your truck and trailer that they were never going to do the call they were gonna wait and then submit it for a GOA. Gone on arrival. In the towing industry this means you were in route to the customer and the customer canceled or it was dispatched incorrectly incorrectly and you get paid a percentage of the overall call usually around $15 to $30. Here's the trick they do it to companies like enterprise and progressive and USA a and State Farm about 10 million times a year which results in them making a shit ton of money for doing nothing. This company has ruined my industry. The only reason I even watch your channel is because that company is killing my industry and now I have to look to a new and industry to possibly transition into. Swoop sucks! I built a business based off of performance based call volume. I was thriving until November 3rd when they called me up and told me they were replacing me as primary for another nationwide company. Now all day long all I do is calls that have already had another provider cancel on them after they've been waiting 2 or 3 hours. The provider always says excuses like that wasn't dispatched for the correct equipment we don't have the correct equipment it's outside of our coverage area we don't have a driver our driver broke down down our driver has to come from across the state. They have a ton of bullshit lies that they say. Meanwhile they're still collecting a GOA fee. Also this company has a very strict call acceptance policy which means even if a provider knows they do not want to do your call or do not have the equipment to do your call they still have to accept the call wait a while and then try to get out of it by lying so they're call acceptance volume will not be affected. I could literally go on for hours about this company and their parent company. And the nationwide contract provider that they have that lies day in and day out nationwide and leaves customers stranded for hours on end with no intention of showing up. I have tons of documentation and videos of customers and of customers and of notes taken by dispatchers from a dispatchers from insurance companies. Just like enterprise said they don't like dealing with them all of the people in the industry do not like dealing with them but we have to because they are the biggest company. Obviously there is a lot of corruption going on.
