I took my Ford Ka 09 plate to Halfords. They said they wasn’t able to fit me a new stereo. When they tried to fit it via adapters it wouldn’t work so he went through the fuse box. That powered up the radio but then nothing on my dashboard was working. Warning lights came on and said I had no fuel and wouldn’t tell me what speed I was going or anything. Do you know why this was happening and how to get around it as I had to leave with the same radio in the end after 2 hours of being there. Thank you!

Hi this video was very helpful to install the stereo for my mrs. Just a quick question I bought a stereo fitting kit which came with Single Din Fascia Adaptor (Black) Steering Wheel Control Adaptor Aerial Adaptor Stereo Patch Lead (Free CTMULTILEAD.2 Included). Once I connect everything it works fine but the controls on the left side of the steering wheel such as ,the volume, etc don’t work however they worked with the stock stereo. Can you help with this please.

Probably because holding a camera and doing that is almost impossible, and it's usually plug and play

I have an issue where the wiring does not work because the "ignition" wire is not in thebusual place. Looking at the manual, ignition switch wire is blue, constant feed is red. I had both red and yellow wired to loom red, but battery keeps running flat. Tried wiring to blue switch, airbag failure came up, stereo still dead 😵‍💫

what did the white plug go to when fitting the after market stereo ? . just fitted one on my girlfriends ka and just left the plug hanging as i couldnt figure out anywhere for it to go.

That plug is not used on this type of install. The plug will be for either display,steering controls or possible usb/cd changer input.

The ISO connector - grey fits into any stereo? What about the white one? I assume that is the steering wheel control? How do you adapt that to aftersales stereos?

When I fit the new stereo using adapter kit the radio is permanently on and doesn't turn off with the ignition, is this something to do with the white connector as the kit i bought doesn't have the white adapter. Thanks

Probably connected it to the wrong fuse, you need one that goes off with the ignition off. 1 year late but hopefully it helps lol

There is a problem with these cars, I have asked Halfords, they said they another cable from the fuse box needs to be mounted into the back of the off the market stereos. What is the model of your Sony? Also, did you had to run another cable from the fuse box? I did try to use a pioneer stereo, no luck, even reversed the 2 colour cables. No power to the unit...

hi useful video thanks got a question, how difficult was it to wire in the replacement head unit ? literally just clip and done or did you have to do any fiddling about ? If i’m buying a new head unit is there anything specific i should look for to ensure it’ll fit easily ? Cheers

Did you screw the new cage into the car? I've tried changing my radio, but it would just come out if I didn't screw it in, but it also doesn't have the holes to screw it in

The cage that comes with the new radio has little tab that you bend behind the plastic trim so as to hold the metal cage when it’s been slid in to the plastic face plate surround.

While anything is possible it would not be easy on the KA. Maybe look at pop out screens.

Is it possible to connect an aux cord? I have just purchased a ford Ka zetec 2011 and it claims to have aux connection but I can't find it

Check down between the handbrake and the gear lever, you should see either a aux or a USB connection. Sounds daft but to get the connection to work you need to eject any disk that is in the radio.

My vents are different from the ones in the video, once I have removed the bezel, I am left with the vent still in place. Do you know ho to remove this type of vent?

Unless Ford have changed the design over the years they could just be stuck,try giving one a gentle twist/wriggle because plastic vents heat up and slightly deform over time which can cause them to stick.

be careful, I took our radio out (mk2 ka) to get behind the dash for the heater and the odometer has flashed ever since as it lost its proxy alignment, had to get it done at a specialist as my local ford dealer had no idea what proxy alignment was and in the end had to use fiat 500 programme to reset it, its now fine

So one side of your heater control panel is not lighting up? if so you first need to check it's not illuminated with LED's. Some have LED's and some have little twist fit bulbs. If it's bulbs and you have done this sort of thing before then yes it's DIY.

I would recommend you do so,not only will you gain better access you won't have to worry about the edge of the plastics overlapping near the centre heater vents.

It sounds like someone in the past has rammed something in to the release key holes in a bodged attempt to remove the radio. This will of broken the release mechanism and so you only option is brute force and try to not damage the surround dash trim.

Just consult your local retail audio dealer on the correct plug and play adapter for your cars spec. Most will require your reg number for this.

Hi. The frame is not designed to be removed from the original radio really. You will need to buy a plastic frame or fascia panel as they are known from either Ebay or a car shop.
