i believe the paste is to prevent rust from moisture.. so it helps .. but for the most part nobody ever replaces it

maybe you have a key fob issue .. because the new battery should have reset that .. have somebody with a scanner see if the car has some code on it on the BCM

Thanks Falcon, a life saving video. It brought life back to the fobs. Looks like on one fob the auto start won't auto start because the fob lock snap switch is not snapping anymore. Used up? Can the top portion of the fob be replaced, or are we looking at a new fob? If new, what would a reasonable price be without being ripped off? 2013 Ford Edge. You Tube saves the day again!

I noticed that you didn’t have to hold the spring loaded button as you pryed off the back..mine would not come off unless I held the button over at the same time I pryed up..maybe your spring is broken but I’m glad I didn’t force it to much before I discovered that issue.

I found my key from the fob at the bottom of my purse. Upon looking at the fob, one side is "UP". After viewing your video to replace the battery, I see where you took key to separate top from bottom. There is my problem....The bottom is "separated" prior to separating from the top. I believe I am observing the slide bar (to get the key out) is slid further and under and is now where the key SHOULD BE put back in when all together. If I separate as instructions state, will my fob break apart? Is there any spring loaded parts?
