I just went to a Kuga test drive yesterday and I gotta say, I was impressed. I am 6'3 (194cm) and I could stay behind the drivers seat adjusted so I can drive confortably really fine. I could almost stretch my feet and head room was good, never touched the ceiling, not even with the head.

I have driven my Kuga for 2 years and absolutely love it. (Not the new one) 1. If it is to much effort to walk 3 or 4 steps to flatten the back seats you are lazy and have much more serious problems! And how often do you actually flatten them? 2. If you are not an uber driver or a pimp how often do you have 3 adults in the back seat? 3. How often does anyone remove the load cover? 4. Don't put the silly large tyres on it! The ride is much better on the normal tyres. 5. As far as the interior plastics are concerned - When is the last time you were in a similarly priced Toyota, Nissan or a VW? It is not that bad.

I have the NA version (Called the Ford Escape) and it's lovely, the steering is light and direct, the 2.0L Ecoboost is torque-y (240bhp, 250lb-ft) and is great for passing on the Highway, we have the pre-facelift model and it aged well (Coming up to 6 years old since we got it in 2013) plus have had no problems with it. I love the car and I would recommend it to anyone

Actually the flaps don't go back, if you look closer they are wider than the boot area. They are there so when tou tilt the seats forward, stuff in your boot doesn't fall behind the seat backs (a gap is created when you lower them forwards).

I have this car in metallic grey, 1.5tdci st line. The car is excellent value for money, the interior is good quality in all places that you actually touch. Matt is exaggerating with the problems he's pointed out. If you can get this on a cheap lease deal or interest free ... it's worth the money. It's better than the Rav4, kadjar and mokka.

Muhammad Bashir I agree about the Kadjar (Mokka is actually in a smaller class, so it is not comparable). I would like to own a Kuga (I currently own a Focus and would like to trade up), but unfortunately, the Skoda Kodiak exists, which trumps the Kuga in most areas. I was really amazed at the acceleration of that thing with the small 1.4 petrol engine!!!

It's some 1000 euros cheaper than a Karoq, but the Skoda is a lot better car. The Kuga is thirstier and the interior is hideous. I honestly see no point in going for a Kuga over the Karoq.

I've just driven a 2018 Kuga over 300 miles. Utterly detestable car. It's like a stodgy old van. The centre console is full of buttons whose meaning is hard to determine. I was given a 20 year old entry-level Fiesta (Finesse) last year. That drives SO much better. I've also driven a Mk3 Mondeo, which I thought was excellent. Where did Ford go wrong ?

Tbh this is the worse carwow review ive ever seen, alot of features were missed such as the floor in the boot space being able to be raised a bit on blocks visable in the video to make a more level load space when back seats are down. Also it dosnt look good if the person doing the review has also done videos on the kugas features???

Have a 180st line awd and it's fantastic, mud flaps as with all cars stop the crap under the doors, yes rear bumper gets mucky but don't they all? Economy for the power is great, tows fantastic,comfy, plenty room in the boot. Yes ours has sporty suspension but doesn't roll like the titanium which is slightly softer and higher which are all described in the bumf you get at dealers so it's down to choice. I agree with the screen moan, the bottom buttons are a pain but let's face it you shouldn't be messing about while on the move anyway. Towing mpg 27mpg and I don't hang about, solo 45 can be achieved.

The boot floor has a higher shelf setting to make it flat inside and the parcel shelf will store under the rear seats. I've had one for a year and still finding hidden things not in the manual.... Like centre console lid sliding forward to become an arm rest.

He actually makes a lot of sense, newer rivals are better in most areas: practicality, build quality, entertainment system, driving dinamics, comfort. Just watch the Skoda Kodiak review, it beats the Kuga at all those categories. I love Fords, but the Kuga is just older than it's rivals.

I have the Titanium X 180awd version and the the fuel economy is abysmal in town driving and short journeys, Only the st version comes with automatic parking and you wouldn't want the st as the suspension is terrible, So if you wanted a kuga go for the 1.5 diesel as it would give you a lot better mileage,The awd system is actually very good but unless you drive on dirt tracks and farmyards and up mountain roads then don't bother, Plus side about the sync 3 system is it has Android auto and apple carplay and when you press the voice button on the steering wheel you have access to either Google assistant or Siri depending if your voice is connected up, The sync 3 voice control is very good also so of you plug in a ish drive that's format into fat32 you can say what album or artist to play and it will do it with the album covers, Now the problem is ford need to update the kuga to be on the level of the Peugeot 3008 as that car is vastly superior on the inside, That small screen on the speedo in the Kuga is nothing compared to the 3008 one, It's a hard sell now to be fair as the French competition is vastly better that's if you don't need awd,

Mr Sneaky Shadow Kuga is a real SUV as its available with AWD so the 3008 isn't comparable. I've got the 180 awd and improved it by 6mpg by fitting a TDI tuning box. More power too. Been using them for 18 years without issue.

CJ X - I was the same until I took it for a test drive. Smooth ride. Minimal (if any) road noise. Good seating position and nice elevation. The floor can be made flat as well so don’t be put off by his un-researched review. Also the parcel shelf can be stowed away too. It comfortably seats 3 adults as well in the rear and there’s plenty of head clearance too. I think these reviewers need to do their research as there were plenty of features that he didn’t mention. Surely that’s the whole point of a review? I’m not interested if “Kuga” means “plague” I just want an unbiased and honest review of how the car actually drives! It’s clear that he’s not a Ford fan and a bit of a badge snob. I would recommend that you watch several reviews on call this car and take it for a test drive too. It’s going to be my next car for sure. Hope this helps

I think recently you're loosing sight of reality Matt. With this level of car, how many owners will actually use the ski hatch? and of those few that do how often? Having or not having a ski hatch on this type of car makes little to no difference to the person likely to be driving it. After seeming disappointed about there being no ski hatch you say don't bother with the 4x4 versions, just buy a set of winter wheels/tyres. A you know four wheel drive is more about stability over slippy surfaces than driving in the snow, plus how many Kuga owners can afford to buy an additional set of wheels/tyres never mind where the heck you're they store them for the other 10.5 months of the year when they're not using them. Come on mate, you have great energy and delivery with good camera work, just keep the reviews real for the demographic of the car you're reviewing.

I thought the Easter egg was the dog - he's a natural talent - eh francais! Difficulty of getting to bottom screen controls would give me the pips - you have to be a contortionist. It should be angled upwards slightly. Floor has to be flat. Redesign team have a lot of work to do on the mark 2 version. X-trail had room for a fold out picnic table - great for family picnics.

Although the cars interior build quality is both low and outdated, the bit of the video about how impractical the boot becomes when you fold down the rear seat. Maybe Matt mentioned details of the extended boot space in another video but since this video is the one to be watched by majority of the people, i found him quite biased towards the car since he completely ignored the rear seat mechanism and didnt show the pieces they fitted so that you can slide things from the boot. I mean he sometimes acts biased but this was the most obvious

I don't think the new KUGA (even interior) is cheap, maybe maybe UK / someone bias FORD/ USA... and if you go to back to see other brand (even is Audi/ BMW/ Honda, ...VW) also as the same interior.. (I think you guys have focus on the car should be Luxury instead of safe/ performance). Even the interior leg size is not good (compare with Tiguan 2), but still is acceptable. p.s I am from Hong Kong (still waiting the new KUGA almost 2 years)

João Paixão it's the Ford Escape and it's a pretty nice suv. It's a little small but when my family rented one for a road trip they were pretty great they got like 32 mpg so that was really great and it was decently comfy most of the trip until we were in the back for 3+ hours

The handling is decent and the space is also plenty for nearly everyone. At least here in germany they're also pretty damn cheap (my parents got a new one for about 23k€) so I'd say it's not a bad choice. Then again fords interior layouts are probably the worst in the whole industry, it's not even the quality but just the way everything is placed seems so fucking odd. Also, in Mustang-red with black 18" alloys it looks pretty badass lol

My Kuga handles like a hot hatch. I can outrun most cars. The Kuga is renowned for its handling being none SUV like. The firmer ST suspension wasn't needed

The Kuga (escape) is a pretty good driving vehicle actually. My mom has the American base model (ford escape S) and it has plenty of power, good mpg, and drives very good. The features are pretty great for a cheap car, Bluetooth, USB, Aux, Rear Camera, twin 4.2 Inch Displays and a decent stereo. But it doesn’t have auto headlights?
