Mark, like the Ford Focus, the Kuga is depressingly overlooked and is subject to silly badge snobbery. [VW, Kia....ugly Kia! and so forth.] The Ford Kuga ticks all the boxes. Spec'd well with decent alloys looks fantastic. The Hybred is one of the best. As you say as a 'family offering', the Ford takes a lot to beat it. Long may it continue! Great 'compact' SUV. Another gem from Ford!

I had that exact car for a rental at my sister’s wedding at end of September last year. Overall I was very impressed. Economical when you wanted it and a decent turn of pace when required. Change between electric and petrol was imperceptible too. Two reasons I won’t buy one 1) Price is too high & 2) engine is too big. The retiring Tiguan has a 1.5 is no slouch either.

Very true Aidan, I’d agree that the Kuga is far too expensive. Fords in general have gone up in price by about 10k from my experience

Really I always find German grossly over priced and over rated I would put my Kuga on fourth one now against any of them for towing and reliability

The problem is that it doesn’t yet have just the electric engine!! I don’t like having a petrol engine to charge the battery!! My current car is a Renault Zoe and her replacement will be a Vauxhall Combo Life Electric with the Wheelhome Vikenze III camper conversion.

The explorer will be fully electric. The Kuga is a plug in hybrid so can still be driven on battery power. Albeit not far.

I have had 4 ford kuga just traded a 2ltr vinale in for a 2-5 phev good cars and everyone is good for towing I would put them against any car as a great all rounder

My question is: Is this a good choice if I drive mostly highwai at around 100 km/h? My work is 45 km away and most of that is highway where speed limit is either 90 or 110 kmh.

Interior quality is one of the biggest issues this car has just feels very cheap

Ford have never been good at interior quality I had a vignale mondeo it wasn't the interior quality I was promised, felt really cheap, I now have a Passat ans the quality difference is massive, I wouldn't go back to Ford

100% agree…it’s the one thing that totally puts me off this car - I’m currently looking for a new car. Went to view one of these in ST Line x trim, and then went to view a Kia Sportage GT Line S. Although they are a similar price the interior of Kia looked like it was from a class above…..Ford needs to do much, much better.

@daveomeara2419 0 seconds ago For me , Ford are going the way of the dodo. They have almost nothing to sell. Fiesta and mondeo are gone. Focus is going. Puma is only MHEV and the Kuga is too small for a family car. I’ve had a lot of fords down through the years but I’m getting a new car in a few weeks and have decided to move away from Ford completely. Dealership network is very poor. When problems occurs , hard to get them fixed under warranty. Consumer confidence in Ford is low.

I own xc40 2021.had kuga 2024 for a day so will compare to volvo. Interiors in ford: plastic everywhere - feels chaep, main screen directed to the middle not to the driver(kind of annoying), loudspeakers like from 90s. Similar boot size but had impression ford has more space at the front row. Screen size also too small for my taste. Overall liked the car and price range 50k euro in Ireland very good. Woudlnt swap for my 3 years old volvo but overall was imprressed what ford brought to the table.

I've a 232 phev ,it's a great drive but has more rattles than a snake charmers basket. Build quality is poor .

FORD will cease to exist as car manufacturers, as they are determined to stop selling real cars. They've scrapped the Fiesta & Mondeo & tried to flog the overpriced Mustang EV, which was a total flop. They also plan to scrap the Focus & Kuga. VW have indeed 'knocked quite a few quid off their EV's, that's because EV's have tanked. FORD Ireland are now only interested in Commercial vehicles. You really need to inform your subscriber's of these facts, as it can cost buyers huge losses in depreciation. Come on Nobby, you obviously look depressed driving this.

Nobby looks underwhelmed driving this one. Not surprising as it's very dull to look at inside and out. It seems ford have given up on Europe completely now and will probably focus on commercials solely on this side of the Atlantic before too long.

Decent review mark but that kuga is 4 years old now and due for a heavy revamp at the end of 2024...Did ford ask you kindly to review it, to keep it in our mindsets ??? Arguably completely overpriced compared to its rivals and the interior is very dark and dated...Fords market share in ireland is now below 5% for I'd imagine the first time in its long history in this country...Its their commercial vans/ pickups that are keeping the show on the road...Interesting times ahead for the blue oval !!

My Dad has one everyone calls it a Motability special 😂😂 god it's boring in every sense of the word, I wouldn't be given one. Saying that hes had alot of issues with it, was one of the cars that had the potential of fire from the hybrid battery took Ford over a year to recall it.

They are one of the nicest driving cars in their class. Only a BMW will better it but is hardly an exciting looking car either.

@@Art-is-craft There is no way a Ford is better build quality then a Vw. My dad's has rattles from the dash and seat belt mounting. The screen is really laggy and far behind vw quality

TBH, I find the Kuga not a very competitive model. With less money, I can have a CHR, a Tucson, a Sportage and with the same, I can have a C5 Aircross.
