I love the short nose Louisville Fords. A great truck. I drove on for a while. Its painted like an old HESS tank truck. Dad use to get me HESS toys for Christmas.

A little rough? That sounds FINE! Maybe a couple fresh batteries but, no clattering, no galloping, no smoke after startup, that truck is a sweetheart! Just picked up a 6v92 fire pump engine with 88 hours on it I'm going to use on a 250kva genset, I am giddy looking forward to seeing it start up!! 😁

I don't think it was so much that the batteries were getting weak so much as that the starter was reaching its thermal maximum limit. I general rule of thumb when you're trying to crank a Detroit diesel in the cold is for every second that you crank the starter you should wait 3 seconds to let the starter cool down. If you crank for 30 seconds then stop and wait a minute and a half before you crank again. 👍🏼

@Dunki1132 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamHollinger2019 judging by how ford is making their f750 it might not be long until we start seeing a ford semi again, they already opting them out with fifth wheels and airlines to pull the lighter duty semi trailers (like soda trucks) so hopefully we might see them push the bar a little more with a bigger powerstroke and possibly reach full-size semi territory one of these days.

I wasn’t sure if it had the air starter or not, but I found out quickly that it doesn’t. Good start. Those Fords were quite nice looking.🤩 Was it a tractor back in the day? Looks like a short frame and it has buds on the front, too. Is that a 63 Chevy in the background? That’s nice, too.

One trick to get any diesel to fire up like it's summer, is just take a blow torch and heat up a portion of the intake for a few minutes. Save your starters and batteries.

That is a Ford LN series. LN was L= Louisville. N short nose. LNT was T= tandem. 8000 was for straight tuck and 9000 was tractor. I absolutely love these trucks. I’d take this over any Peterbilt or Kenworth!
