KIA is making cars that would surprise quite a few folks. I have spent 25 years now in the car business. I recently purchased a pre owned 2013 KIA Optima SXL. You can't buy a car with that many options and that kind of performance for the price other than the KIA. 2.0 Turbo with 275 HP. Heated and Air-conditioned seats, two sunroofs, paddle shifters, Infinity stereo with subwoofer, leather, Navigation...I paid 12k. I have driven almost every car imagineable. I never even thought about a KIA until I drove this car.

I've got my eye on an Ecoboost Mustang in a couple of years - but if I wanted 4 doors I'd go for the 2.0 turbo Stinger. I've had 2 Falcons, then downsized to a Mazda 3 SP23 and the next car for me will be bigger regardless. The Stinger has peak torque down low and the 8 speed helps. Ford's 10 speed auto and the power upgrade for the 2018 GT sees the GT run high 3's to 100km/h and pretty much a 12 second flat 1/4 mile, so Ford is already taking back the crown

Lucky bastard :) The reviews for the Stinger tend to downplay or stop short of critricising it's sporting prowess. But really, it is a large car that wears a few hats for maximum appeal. It's not going to be a razor sharp in the corners, but at the same time, it will be fairly comfortable too. By the sounds of it, it does it's intended job fairly well.

TDN Gaming the 4 Door Sedan sports car never sells well. 300, Chevy SS. Ect. Even the Dodge Charger doesn’t sell many 6.2-6.4 cars. Only grandma 5.7 and 3.6. The Kia looks nice, had nice numbers but for 55k for RWD and over 60k for awd. 12.9 RWD and 12.5 awd quarter mile and 4.5/4.1 0-60 isn’t impressive at all. Cars at the price point are pushing 11.8 quarter and 3.40-60 It’s just to much money for the performance

You gotta remember, the mustang in different countries has 15 less hp and 10 less torque because of the steering wheel being on the right side. It makes the exhaust super restrictive. But you should’ve used an auto.

Motor trend has an article about the 2018’s running in the high 11’s completely stock with the 10 speed automatic, driving the the lot any messing with tire pressures and using launch control consistory running 11.9’s. Automatics have a huge advantage, manuals take a ton of practice, I’ve owned my vehicle for four years and upgraded the clutch at two years and I still can’t consistently hit my best time, I’m close but minor things make for .2 .3 second differences.

I ride both car stinger has way more features 4 door, awd, bigger cargo space, harman kardon speaker, wireless charger, HUD, heated steeringwheel, brembo brakes, etc. way more. one is v6 twin turbo and one is V8. V6 tiwin turbo has better gas. Mustang rear seats are so shitty and interior is all plastic yeah v8 and lot of horse power but i live in Canada which means rear wheel drive is so shitty plus more gas. Tiny trunk space and touch screen is so slow....

I'm calling complete bullcrap. 2018 Mustang runs high 11s for automatics and low 12s for manual. I ran a 12.7 in the 1/4 in a stock manual 2017 mustang and that was only my 6th time on a drag strip so you can't tell me that the Kia Stinger is faster than the mustang. Only way is if they were at very high altitude and which that's where the Kia's turbos would come into play. Also the driver shifted a 1000 rpm sooner than redline which is also going to lower your 1/4 mile time. I see a lot of comments about "oh there is a lot of people getting butt hurt" I'm a mustang fan so clearly I'm going to get defensive when you make a bs claim about my favorite car. Might be able to bs some people just to get the extra views but not everyone.

HRT 666 There was a lot wrong with this test. The 18 Mustang is more powerful than the 17 they tested, auto vs manual, used launch control in the Kia but didn't in the Ford, and shifted the mustang at 6.5k rpm which isn't good.

Not really. Motor trend got 12.6/115.1 out of a 2018 Mustang GT PP1 automatic and 12.6/113.1 with the manual PP2, but got 13.2/106.4 with the 2018 Kia Stinger GT2. The Mustang automatic also achieved 3.9 to 60 compared to 4.7 for the Stinger. Kia did well and the Stinger GT is a great compromise between a family hauler and afternoon fun machine. With a weight of just over 4,000, pretty darn good performance

That all changed in this side of the pond with the 2018 and 10 speed auto. "The Hot Rod gang clocked a time of 11.83 seconds at 119.51 mph.", making it the best sports car bargain at this time ($43.7K base GT with 10 speed auto and Performance Package Level 1). The car never went under 6000 rpm, maintaining it in the meat of the powerband.....However, the Kia Stinger GT is still the best all around vehicle to buy: 12.83 1/4 mile in a car with a C5 cargo hatch and space for mum, granny and the kids, plus the availability of AWD makes it the perfect Family Car. We will just have to wait and see what happens when the Camaro SS gets its own version of the 10 speed auto. Ive drive a 2017 GT, 2018 GT, and 2018 Stinger GT. The 2017 Mustang GT is no match for a stinger off the line. Its barely faster then my ecoboost stang off the line. The stinger would keep up with a 2018 GT A10.

I know you're an internet troll, and I have nothing against the stinger.. I am quite happy that "family car" companies like Kia are stepping up their game and making competition closer... But you have to be a fool to disagree with my statement. You cannot compare automotive technology from 2014 to 2018 and say it's a fair race. The cars didn't even have the same transmission! Say what you want, but the stock quartermile of the 2018 GT 10 speed is ~12s. Not to mention the Kia GT is substantially more expensive than the "tested" car in the video. Troll away.

Apparently the North American version of the 2018 Mustang GT is a lot faster because I've seen totally stock ones run 1/4 mile in 11.6 to 11.8 seconds and go 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds. The numbers this guy is getting is more like the 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang. Lol

That's all fine a dandy it beat the mustang GT, but that's the flagship for the Kia. The Ford has faster versions, throw that in the mix and it's a very different story although I suppose there will be a price difference. The Kia Stinger has great bang for the buck and good practicality. Impressive win tho, for the Kia Stinger :)

Otto Bauch it would be pretty close. I have seen the auto go against the SS and the chevy has a tome of 4.1 and it beats the mustang every time. The stinger is 4.2 0-60 without launch mode. I know i have one. With a tune im getting it adds 80 hp and 115 ft lbs. Thats 445 hp and 495 ft lbs. The stinger with a tune is 3.1 seconds. The mustang cant hang with that.

Chris Huber two very different cars for sure. Used to work at a Kia dealership and have a respect for the quality actually. Good cars. But I was born and raised ford so I have my biases in favor of ford obviously. Comes down to personal preference. Both my mustangs I’ve owned are very tolerable for road trips but are not Cadillacs by any means.

My AWD Beauty beat a 2018 auto 5.0 with no problem from the gate but and I mean but at a roll of 40 mph it took me. Out of the gate I owned it, on a roll he rolled me! Bottom line is Kia has made a incredible car for a great price and it competes with the original big boys.

I hate to be that guy but Mustangs with a proper driver are good for Mid to low 12's in the 1/4. I had to hear it myself, maybe you're just not a good driver and can't get the most out your car. Mustangs are harder to drive being RWD and manual. An AWD and Auto will always have the advantage
