Massive respect to Ford doing that in what was a muscle car platform but they kinda didn’t do what they set out and that was to beat the Europeans at their own game. Almost 20 seconds off the GT2 MR. And Porsche has brought MR in house so technically no it’s not modified. The AMG one is in a different league so not really fair to compare it to that.

This talk about VIPER is way better. Keep in mind dodge and Lamborghini had to team up and create a track specific car. Ford did it themselves with less liters on a 3800-4000(with driver)lbs car. While the viper acer has 8.4 liter V8 and weighs 3200lbs.

Second, Ford didn't do it themselves, they teamed up with multimatic to build the car and they don't even own Multimatic like Dodge owned Lamborghini so technically Dodge did it themselves and Ford didn't. Third, the Viper is a V10 not a V8 🤦

@ Viper ACR was made in 1999 and Chrysler sold lamborghini in 1994. Meant to say without help of another car brand. Third was a typo on the V8 part. Lamborghini literally made the engine and chassis (supercar aesthetic and philosophy).

Chevrolet ran the C8 Z06 on the nurb and apparently the best they got wasn’t optimal (7:08) so they didn’t release the time officially. The Zr1 most likely won’t be as fast either because it’s going to be heavier and more horsepower doesn’t fix that. GT3RS is an example beating almost everything with 500hp. Balance is key…

We’re a massive country with big straight roads where drag racing is king😂we have SUV’s like the trackhawk that will eat Mercedes and Porsche alive trust me I build racecars European cars are amazing at road courses but hard to make compete in drag different places different roads different cultures? We’re a young country in comparison with much better laid out cities no disrespect intended by any means you have far more history but when places are far smaller and designed for use with horse n buggy in many areas and only partially redesigned after the wars roads are tight and winding! Why do you think the best rally drivers are all from there? They grew up throwing cars around! Where do the fastest accelerating cars on earth come from? America where we have huge chunks of straight strips for 11,000hp monsters to go 330mph in a 1/4 mile

I honestly had more expectations from it, considering the Viper ACR is a stick shift, has 150hp less than the GTD, with an extremely limited top speed of only 177mph. Not to mention, if it wasn’t for the miss shifts during the Vipers lap record run, it definitely would’ve ran a sub 7 minute time.

The new zr1 corvette is heavy and probably won't break the record. It's nearly 3800lbs. That's like 600lbs heavier than the mustamg gtd. GM has never released its official times at the mean Green because the ZR-1 has always underperformed. The new ZR-1 will probably underperform as well because of how heavy it is.

Meh. Yes it completed the track faster then Viper. But Viper was ahead in whole race. Viper loses only because on the final 1.3 mile long straight Mustang is over 10kmh faster. Thats where it gets that 4 second lead. Give Viper same 800 horsepower and it will go faster. Overall on most tracks without long straight Viper is still fastest American car. By a lot.
