It's only recommended for performance brakes. You don't need to bed your brakes on a standard brake system.

Good work. Follow the specific instructions for your brand of pads. For example, Powerstop break in "bedding" follows......5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph down to 10 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool and do not come to a complete stop. If you’re forced to stop, either shift into neutral or give room in front so you can allow the vehicle to roll slightly while waiting for the light. The rotors will be very hot and holding down the brake pedal will allow the pad to create an imprint on the rotor. This is where the judder can originate from. Then do 5 moderate stops from 35 mph to 5 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool. You should expect to smell some resin as the brakes get hot. After this is complete, drive around for as long as possible without excessively heating the brakes and without coming to a complete stop (Try for about 5 minutes at moderate speed). This is the cooling stage. It allows the heated resin in the brake pads to cool and cure. After the brakes have cooled to standard operating temperature, you may use the brakes normally.

Great Video. I sure learned a few thing here! I'm pretty sure this will help many others as well. Keep the videos coming - You really do make a huge difference and they really are something special and Kool for everyone. - I got to be honest about how I always did performed my "break-ins" They weren't as detailed and didn't make sense the way yours does. Right on! I never knew about the wrong or right way save for it working or not working. I didn't know the right or wrong until I got hooked on your Videos. If I was to take anything from this video it would have to be that from now on I will do a hybrid of how you perform brake pad and disc pad break-in technique. Thanks again for all you're doing for us.

Thanks Brian for the info. I think I've been doing it wrong. I was taught to "bed them in" by doing repeated moderate braking from 50mph down to 5mph about 6 or 7 times without letting the wheels actually stop turning. I would stop the process after extreme brake fade and let them cool down by driving for a good while.

Great video even though I don’t have any Fords, I also think that if you have any high-performance brake pads or rotors you lose the pad transfer from day to day traffic town driving and I’ve noticed this with my performance brake pads every so often I go to the re bead Process again and I do notice a difference

Love your videos as always, but you are misleading your viewers in this video. You do NOT come to a complete stop. You.are intentionally bringing the pads up to their critical temperature, and coming to a stop will leave uneven fusion interface between the pad and rotor. You specifically avoid coming to a complete stop during, and even after the bed in procedure...until.the brakes have cooled back down.

Great video! Is this the same method that you would use for Heavy Duty Towing truck brakes? I have purchased cross drill and slotted rotors with carbon fibre compound pads. I really like the carbon fibre pads because they not only create a low amount of brake dust but they also last so much longer than factory metallic replacements, don’t heat up as much, and don’t destroy the rotors. I was able to get 23,000 miles out of my last set of carbon fibre compound brake pads in my 2003 Ford Expedition and just started to get some shuddering under heavy braking on the highway.

Kind of a wild one😅 I just replaced my back two rotors and pads had no issue putting them on, calipers were fine no hesitation clamping them back in, I go to drive to a friends house maybe 20 mins away(granted this hasn't been done in a LONG time and didn't think about it till I heard grinding and hardly and stopping power from the last set) on my way to his house I notice shaking, it was very light then for a few seconds was very shaky, scary shaky, and when I got to his place they were smokin a little and then rotors were really really hot, is this because for so long everything was used to really wore down rotors and pads and trying to adjust to the new, thicker rotor and pads it's just rubbing really badly until it "fits it's way" back in basically or is that like I messed up badly type of thing 😅 forced to drive it to work tomorrow so hopefully nothing bad happens 😬

What would happen if you didn’t exactly do this? Like you just bled the brakes by pushing on em while parked but after jus started driving like daily. I didn’t do this, and it’s been a few weeks. However, I had my tires rotated and now I hear I weird rumbling sound: not a scrape but rumbling sound at slow speeds while applying the brakes. I also had 4 new tires put on at Firestone and I have new brakes and rotors that were put on 3-4 weeks ago.
