Cleaned the intake manifold and replaced the glo plugs today. 170,000 klm on car. I installed a while ago a exhaust manifold blanking plate and air flow cable in case the egr cooler failed which it did about 15,000 klm ago. Lost coolant to the egr cooler but no other problems. By passed the cooler and left this setup even after the clean and plugs today. I’ve never had an error code and still no code after todays work. Agree with all your comments about been a long messy job but the manifold did come out and go back easily. Maybe more luck than good management.

I have a 2016 px2 that threw the EGR fault code. Fitted a blanking plate and had the EGR turned off in the ECU. Your vids were very helpful, the top EGR bolt is even harder to get to than the PX1 but it can be done, i accessed the bottom bolt easily from underneath the vehicle using several 3/8 drive extensions

Your comment makes me wonder if you can just turn EGR off in the ECU and get the valve to stay shut? I have a PX2 as well and thinking about how to disable/delete/throw into volcano the EGR sys.

@@captainottothe px2 EGR cooler is different to the one in the vid, apparently the PX2 units don't fail and leak coolant into the engine. The main issue with my truck turned out to be the EGR temperature sensor which is mounted on the exhaust manifold

With regard to the oil pump change, I noticed on another youtube video that the commentator placed a plug into an all ready created threaded orifice right near the oil pump and commented that if this wasn't done that the oil pressure would be insufficient. I would take your opinion as more reliable. Thanks and keep up the good work.

yeh thats correct, if you upgrade from the vane pump to the geared pump, you block the banjo bolt of coming from the block

The EGR is used as the blow off excess manifold pressure in PX2 and also at low engine revs provides volumetric efficiency for the engine. I blanked off my EGR and cleaned the manifold at 80,000Kms. My fuel efficiency went from 12 Km/L to 8.2Km/L and the blow off had nowhere to go but oscilate in the air intake side. I have now unblanked everything and it runs normal again.

What do you mean by "blow off"? Excess inlet pressure? Does the egr open to allow excess inlet boost into the exhaust?

OK so I have a 2021 Ford ranger petrol 2.3 engine. There has to be a difference between the suit of your vehicle and my vehicle as far as the EGR valve and a catch can and the levels of suit. Give me your thoughts on this.

I’ve put the egr cable in when the car warms up if I stop at the shops for instance I get back in start the engine the temperature on the dash for ambient temp comes up -4 and and works it way down to 2 degrees Is that normal?

No but you will burn heaps more fuel because the EGR system provides volumetric efficiency at low engine loads.

Seen a few videos that explain how the EGR delete cable is a terrible idea and causes more problems than it's worth. It only tricks the ecu that the inlet temperature is zero so the egr valve doesnt open, which in turn reduces turbo boost and increases the exhaust AFR. So you'll end up with even more build up and less power. Just blank the egr and be done with it.

yea that cable was the cause of my 3.2 shutting off randomly. Best thing to do is blank it and deleted the code from the ecu.

I have 15+ px2 2.2 fully deleted wth cable to afm, cooler deleted etc done 475km no codes no problems and use catch can before mods intake almost completely plugged now clean as a whistle best mod on rangers after trans cooler upgrade

Hey mate, I have a px2 XLplus. Its the model that runs a px1 engine, BCM and interior are all px1(checked this in forscan Engine models 2011-15 ) I'd be safe to assume that blanking out the egr without a tune out would suffice?

Wouldn't you be able to turn off, the EGR sensor, by going into your ECU module, engine management, and click it off within the fault codes? Yeh??

I’ve done similar stuff to what you’ve done.. but I have re plumbed my pcv directly to my air cleaner . Now it drags hardly any oil into the system ( much lower vacuum ) while still pulling in the fumes and nasties.

@@SlaterGator No mate. I have a K&N filter and it has only has a small dark stain on one side after 30000km. As I said this method vents the crankcase to the low vacuum side of the intake system, so hardly any oil is sucked through at all . Plus the MAF sensor gets a truer reading of the intake airflow..

@@NCHuntSA Hi. I simply used a hole saw (25mm I think) to drill a hole in the back of the air filter housing and re routed the pcv tube into it. Plus a cable tie to hold the tube onto a bracket close by. Hardly any oil comes through because it doesn’t have the same high vacuum drawing oil mist into the tube and down into the intake pipe. Obviously you’ll need to block off the old connection point on the intake pipe. I haven’t reinvented the wheel here! It’s just the way crankcases were vented in the past.. eg early Holden red motors.

I find it odd that in a hot country people want to block off the exhaust gases from the EGR system, the exhaust gas is used to lower the operating temperatures at idle, by lowering the oxygen level and hence the combustion mixture explosion/ ignition temperature. Just clean the system every 200k, even that isn’t necessary due to the amount of space the pipes and tubes allow for this slight buildup. Run a good injection cleaner every 100k for optimum efficiency and performance. 😊

Do you still run the rusk of the EGR cooler failure to damage your motor if you install both plates? Is it recommended to bypass the cooling pipe and blank off plates?

I have egr blocked , running fine for 60000km, as soon as i added a catchcan it started spewing oil out the front of the motor, took it off no problems now!!

i run a cheap catch can , it's basically a straight through type with a little steel baffle, $38 on ebay

@@adilozkan9990 there's a small amount through intercooler circuit,but zero in the catch can...I think the vacume from the intake system sucks out the oil vapours, from the engine basically recirculates it,but there isn't that vacuum present with a catch can, so it blocks up...that's my thoughts personally

My old Ranger has 330,000 km on the clock, last night it went into limp mode, fault code P042F (EGR stuck closed). If I fit one of these delete cables and reset the code would that solve the problem? Or do I need to remove and clean the EGR valve?

pop off the black plastic valve that has the plug going to it and spray some brake cleaner down it, free it up using a flat screwdriver, would take 15 minutes, watch my "common fault codes causing limp mode" vid to know what im talking about.

I did in my px ranger I was told to dri.ll a small hole in the blanking plate.minimal fumes get through but it's enough to keep the sensor happy
