Procharged Camaro Z28 with Procharged SBC. This is a video showing how quickly the Taurus fan on high can cool down a hot natured sbc. I used an electric golf cart motor continuous duty relay.

I'm not sure about the part number but it's from an early to mid 90's Ford Taurus with the 3.8. Mine came from a salvage yard for $35. I'm sure rockauto.com and Ebay have these as well. Keep in mind this video was done inside my garage with no air moving in there. Outside is better.

That's right Ford too the Rescue

They had to have something to cool down those hot running 3.8's. This is a great alternative to the very expensive aftermarket fans regardless of brand.

volvo module style relays are the easiest way to tie it all together.
@prestonedmonds41288 жыл бұрын
mafosa Do you have a video or link for this? The golf cart relay was super easy.

ordered my fan, should have it Monday. what size relay did you use on your set up?
@prestonedmonds41288 жыл бұрын
Make sure you use an electric golf cart continuous duty relay. On the high setting it pulls a lot of amps and a regular automotive style relay will burn up. I've tried several of them with no luck. I got a cheap golf cart continuous duty relay on eBay for less than $20.

Do the wires burn over time?
@prestonedmonds41288 жыл бұрын
Darren Stevens wires do not burn over time that I've experienced.

What kind of radiator u runnin?
@prestonedmonds41286 жыл бұрын
Currently running an AFCO but I had a factory replacement 1983 Camaro fan from Autozone. Running the bigger AFCO made no difference in the cooling with this fan.

Yeah, let me know how it works out. I use an electric golf cart continuous duty relay. $14 on Ebay. I didn't even try the Volvo one.

@@prestonedmonds4128 volvo has the same fan with better relays than the ford for my efi set up. Im runnin fitech with 2fan controls. Fitech and volvo relays use negative feed to control the relays. Type in early ford volvo electric fan. For the vid

I'm also running a Fitech 1200 power adder now. That's how I have it wired. I looked at the Volvo relays before I decided to go with the golf cart relay.
@Leveluplivin8 жыл бұрын
Ok so how do you hook it up?
@prestonedmonds41288 жыл бұрын
Darren Stevens. Basically just a positive and negative to the fan from the relay. It wires up just like any other fan. There are lots of write ups online.

You need to get urself some mechanical gauges the stock 3rd gen gauges never work worth a damn on mine the volt meter would read 12 and I would be sitting at over 14 all the time regardless of fans and other junk
