I own a Transit 350 with the turbo 3.5 which I use for expedited shipping. I run about 10,000 miles per month and have found your videos invaluable! Currently trying to find a coolant leak and came across your channel. Blessings to you, and thank you so much for making awesomely helpful content!!

Great video. My bottle was spraying through a couple of pinholes, so it was clear it was leaking. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Thanks for saving me so much headache and/or money. I followed your advice and purchased the coolant line as well. Oddly enough, I couldn't find it anywhere for less than the OEM version from Ford (but the reservoir bottle after-market version was a real cost-saver). When I tried to take out the old line, I couldn't get it unfastened at the passenger side, but I was in a rush. I'll get in there soon with better tools and get it changed. Thanks again for your great video.

Very Informative! Thanks for the line tips. I will definitely check mine. My mechanic changed some clamps and I believe a hose. It started to overheat when I was waiting in a drive thru line. When I called him he said so it was ok for 2 weeks though. Hence I no longer bring my vehicles there.

Geez, a third hose. Wished I had seen this earlier. I ordered the upper hose instead of the plastic one. FWIW, apparently a piece of 5/16" line and a couple of small hose clamps work well. At least until a replacement can be found (not sure why mine was repaired and left that way -- initial inspections discovery after buying it). Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the video 👍 I’ve had from new my 2019 Transit Custom 2.0 diesel here in the UK. It has been using about 1.5 litres of coolant a month and steadily getting worse. I’ve been really concerned that it may be something major, but after seeing you video I’m hope this is all that’s wrong fingers crossed 🤞.

MedTec67 I found a Dorman brand for the recovery tank and I guess Dorman has thought it through as they put metal inserts "in" both nipples. I was going to see if I could jimmy-rig it like that with the original Ford part, but it looks like Dorman did it already! ---> Dorman Pressurized Coolant Reservoir: Clear, Plastic, Original Equipment Replacement I assume this will mitigate erosion on the nipples as the metal funnels the hot liquid into the tank and never touching the plastic nipples. However, my only concern is heat. I believe the original issue is a combination of heat and chemical breakdown. With this design it would only be heat and I believe the polymer they use will withstand it. Either way it's a step in the right direction.

Dayum the contector you need to squeeze I believe is called (left upper radiator hose).in my case I had to remove it and the hose goes behind the engine. It was annoying to remove it since there was not enough room.

FYI the 2015 Transit has the square “box pinch” connector on BOTH sides of the small overflow tube. The replacement part that Ford gives now has a “wing pinch” on the tank side, they redesigned the nipple. You MUST get the tank (for me was $60) AND the overflow tube ($85!).

Would you be able to provide the part number for both? I’m stuck in Mississippi trying to get this thing done. Thought I was done after changing the upper radiator hose, but noooo they have to CONTINUOUSLY make it a PITA

On mine, the coolant accumulates on the lip where the two halves of the ball meet, but not enough to spill over and drip to the ground. It seems like it’s coming from the pressure hole in the back. But could it be coming out of the cap? Thanks for making these videos.

I lose coolant at extremely low rate but but always a slight whiff of coolant. Is there a dye to help locate coolant leaks? Will theses parts work on a 2017 Transit Ecoboost? Do you have video on coolant change/flush? Thanks for the great video

@medtec6747

the total capacity is 3.5 to 4 gallons contingent if you have rear heat or not. now you will never get it all out i rarely get more than 1.5 gallons when just draining them from the radiator.

The antifreeze is in the area below the reservoir to indicate a leak from the reservoir. And the reservoir is completely empty. However, in feeling around the tank and the hoses, I cannot feel any evidence of leaks. Doesn't help that it's completely empty. All other hoses and radiator are dry. Any advice?

Have any of you tried to replace the plastic heater line with a rubber heater hose instead? I am about to try that out with my Transit because the freaking line broke in my hand as soon as I pulled it out and I can't wait another week to save money online by ordering the part instead of buying local (4x the price). 3/16 heater hose seems to be a tight fit though I will take some heat and lube to it in order to avoid using clamps on both the radiator end and the reservoir weird butterfly plastic connector. If anyone tried this out and it worked for a long time please let me know. I'm not sure the flexible rubber hose will remain stretched and in place so I will use some cable ties and hold the new rubber hose against the plastic through the radiator and then to the thicker coolant hose near the reservoir.

2015, can’t find it, pressure test was fine. It doesn’t leak all the time. Is anyone else having intermittent draining, I mean it’s a substantial amount that I find on my driveway only sometimes. Side note, my heater doesn’t work very good, is there a blockage and causing it to blow back, but why so much coolant that gets lost only sometimes.

What can cause the cooling system to go into a vacuum?
@medtec6747
@medtec6747 2 жыл бұрын
Cool down happens every cycle. No matter how efficient the cooling system is a little boiling happens and the radiator cap vents the excess pressure when the system cools down there is less gas than there was before which results in net vacuum
