Excellent wee tutorial Jim. I've done a couple tutorials of my own, but a friend of mine has a front wheel drive Transit & is being charged nearly £400 for the work & I was certain that they're ripping him off. Unfortunately I didn't know his van needed this work or he would have been doing it at my place, I'm badly disabled, but I could have walked him through the job with your help. Keep up the good work.

If you hammer the bearing carrier from the knuckle by hitting the disc surely you will damage the wheel bearing, unless it comes free very easily!??!
@macdaddymcgrady3 жыл бұрын
What you should do is take two disc to hub bolts out, then screw a long bolt in through the disc to hub, protrude it right through and use it to press against the knuckle and push the hub away from the knuckle with a steady even pressure. Two bolts do the trick, one top and bottom, it’s very easy and effortless in comparison. Plus it doesn’t impact the bearing into the race so a lot less likely to Brinell the bearing.

I break those abs plugs all the time.. the rubber seals inside are stupidly big. I take them out and it plugs in no problem. With a bit of non conductive grease to stop water👌

All in all pretty good, but you should tell people that the 13mm disc bolts are stretch bolts & should be changed never re-used and use a log bolt to remove the hub rather than a hammer.

Blimey!...I’m on my 3rd set of front pads and on 1st disc still. Will need a new set of discs by the end of the year though haha always been stuck in my ways of using more engine breaking that the brakes lol😬. Nice video by the way including the spanner/socket sizes and torques is spot on, now I know il need a 36mm socket as the halfords box is only up to 32mm. Dunno why but the start of the video each section was flashing on the screen, weird. 👍🏻

You tap the hub off with a hammer with ease, however the transit hubs often put up a big fight and an extractor is a better bet.
