The cup holders in the 94 - 96 Birds / Cougars were a good thought but the placement wasn't real convenient. The 97 cup holders were much better. they were placed more forward on the console. A common thing for us MN12 (10th generation Bird / Cougar) owners to do is to find the top piece of the console from a 97 with the cup holders (Pick N Pull ,salvage yard, E-Bay etc.) and replace the 94 -96 piece with that.

Still better than the cup holders in the 89-93 😉. I'll never understand why a "near luxury" car was made to do without them.

Interesting insights into how the car was marketed. I think they're over-selling the 3.8, though. Yes, it had plenty of torque, but power was only just adequate.

“EEC-IV engine controls” WRONG The 1994 4.6L Thunderbird used EEC-V with OBD-II. The 3.8L used the EEC-IV with OBD-I. In 1996 all vehicles used OBD-II and therefore the 3.8L V6 used EEC-V as well. Essentially the EEC-V was for most 1996 and newer Ford cars and trucks. Last year of the T-Bird was 1997 so it doesn’t matter much. Just how can this be a technical training video if the data is wrong!
