I love these Thunderbirds! I have owned 2 97's, a 96, and a 95. All were LX and had the 4.6. Drove them all for over 300,000 miles except for one my wife total loss. I currently drive a 97 with over 310,000 miles on her. Been looking for another one to replace her. By far my favorite car(s). Great car you have too.

You are telling the truth, mine has over 350,000 miles and never had any real problems. Its low key, but my shit scoots. The engine is going to outlive everything else on this car.

Had a 89 and a 94. Had about 7k in the 94. Had the 4.6 and after it wss all said and done, lowered, cobra r wheels, cobra brakes, full flow master exhaust, head swap, intake, 70mm throttle body, SC body kit, shift kit, Diablo sport chip. ..and she moved!!!!! By far my favorite of 15 cars I've owned. Love it!!!!!!

I had a 96 that had a police interceptor motor put in it. Don't know how much faster it was from the 4.6 but that thing would haul ass! Had to get rid of it after I bought an Explorer. Couldn't afford two cars. I miss it so much! Also had a 89 with a V-6. Damn good and reliable car.

That was a cool car! I had a silver 95 that was originally my dads, after he passed i drove it locally when i came home on leave in the Navy. My other car was a red 95 Mark 8 (like a full size T bird, i often thought was the same car only bigger) back east where i was stationed, so i kept the Mark longer, but i was really impressed with dads T Bird for the brief time i used it

The 94-98 Tbirds with the 4.6 only put out 205 hp, but it was torquey, just under 290 lbs. Stock they get to 60 in about 8 seconds, which was quick back in the 90's. These cars had a very tall gearing, 3.08 rear end, change these to 3.73 or 4.10's and its accelerate much faster

Hey man, fellow 96 Tbird 4.6 owner here! Your whip looks mighty fine my dude! I know this was a few years ago, but I just did a airbox delete with a K&N intake filter. They make the kit for like $150, and it just bolts right up. Thanks for the upload!

Right on. Sorry for the late reply. Life’s been busy, that’s why no uploads either lol. I’ve seen that kit before on SCP. I’m wanting to do a tune-up on this car before too long. I’m definitely planning on doing that K&N conversation when I go to do that.

Very nice man, one of the best cars Ford made,comfortable,great suspension and much "sleeper" possibilities, had a buddy that had one, i think it was a 96 4.6 that had just about every go fast goodie you could throw at a car up to including a supercharger,thing was scary fast.
@Trump-jv8xf

I had a 97 laser red lx from new to years ago. I went full bolt on: intake, exhaust, pulleys, programmer, upgrade transmission, rear end, suspension, and even had a 75 wet shot. Super sleeper it was, more fun than my super fast and expensive cars I own today. If you find a nice one, buy one or a Lincoln Mark viii. Also, even highly modified, it is hard to get a ticket in and easier to get a warning. Insurance is cheaper too!

I also have a 96 thunderbird 4.6 v8 lx im the second owner of it, I bought it from a old war veteran that bought it new back in 1996 its been outside all its life but the paint is still near perfect(only the pinstriping is faded). its white with green and gold pinstriping on each side and has chrome factory rims with the spoiler. The interior is in really good shape and the dash has always had a cover on it so the dash is immaculate. Its also been maintained good so its mechanically sound. Another bonus was that he sold me it for 800 bucks which is a great deal for an almost new 96 thunderbird. It makes a great first car its fun to drive and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

The 94-97 Cougar/T -bird were some of the best cars ever built by an American car company. As a plus, my 95 Bird has the OBD2 diagnostics. Thats right, OBD2 in 1995!

Mick Douglas I definitely love mine. It’s just a pleasure to drive. With the IRS and the amazing Suspension it is extremely smooth. It handles really well too. And it’s a pretty stout running car. It’s not much out of the hole but at a 40 or 50 roll it’ll get up to 100 faster than most people that don’t know any better would think.

I have a 1997 TBird. Original owner. I really like the car. So much about this car is so right. It's the V8 and I ordered it with all factory options except the sun roof....could kick myself for not ordering that. 190,000 miles. Very reliable car. Passes California's strict smog test easily after all these miles. With all the options...including stiff suspension and the Mark VIII brakes, it has great road handling. I'm in the midst of restoring it. It's the opalescent white color. Interesting....why did I buy this car....because it looked almost exactly like the 1991 Australian Ford Falcon that I used to own. The Falcon was a four door, but otherwise looked pretty much the same.

Also, think twice about replacing the wheels, the factory ones look really good. My TBird did not have a sunroof - I never knew that was available. That car has a nice dash and instrument cluster. james thomas I love the 02-05 Thunderbirds. Most people I’ve talked to don’t like them for some reason but I love them and I really want to get one sometime. I test drove a whisper white 02 about a year ago while my truck was getting a couple of dents popped out I decided to go to the dealership next door and just kill some time. Felt like the American dream somehow, a nice 2 door coupe that gave me a special feeling that had me smiling ear to ear the whole test drive even though they don’t have that much power it had a certain charm to it. I really want to get a Desert Sky Blue 03 with matching top and white interior one day to have as a cruiser. I might would’ve gotten that white one but they wanted like $16k when it was blue booking for $11k.

Kinda been on the 96 Tbird videos, but my car has been extremely reliable. Yea sure the plastics on her are cracking and she isnt as clean as she used to be, but never has she ever let me down. Dead cold of winter, starts right up, stupid hot summer keeps going. My old man gave me this car in a low point of my life, he was scared because he couldn't control the rear wheel v8 in rural Indiana weather. But my old gal has been done nothing but right by me.

I've sent a green T-Bird not so long ago it might either been a 96 or 97 like the front end of the 96-97 models. My late grandmother classmate had one in gold her car was nice it looked good like new and was very reliable got totaled sometime in 2012 after somebody had hit it she wasn't hurt at all probably was disappointed because had to get another car. These cars are reliable, fun and quick grew loving the American cars before went to imports still a GM fan also was Ford fan now huge Ford SUV fan love these old Ford cars around that time the Taurus, Thunderbird, Escort and Explorer were some nice looking cars around that time.

Hey Huff! New sub here. I just got one today. Mine is the exact same 1996 Thunderbird LX model, but doesn't it doesn't have a sunroof and has 130,000 miles on it. The paint I have is horrible, but the body is in good shape. She does have decent interior and the seats are really comfortable like you mentioned. I paid 1,300 cash and it does have new tires, but needs some TLC which is mostly cosmetic, but it has a few quirks and the craziest cupholder setup ever. Thanks for all the information and I will probably ask you some questions as I go along fixing her up. I want to make some videos here soon on the progress. I look forward to checking out your channel! Take care and I hope you have a smooth weekend. Peace

How has it been holding up ? Good for a daily ?
@ChrisfromGeorgia
@ChrisfromGeorgia 3 жыл бұрын
@@jxrioss21 I actually sold her about a month ago. I will say that it could be a good daily if you get one in good condition. The main problem I ran into is that there aren't many out there, and certain parts can be hard to come by. In the end, I couldn't justify putting any more money into her. If you want a better daily, look for a SN-95 Mustang. They are much better when it comes to Aftermarket support. Personally, I would have enjoyed driving a manual transmission as well. Btw, like the Foxbody Mustangs, I believe the SN-95 Mustangs will only go up in value here in the coming years.

TIP: had to replace automatic climate control blower resistor module on mine. The module is STUPID expensive on these like $250+. The Automatic Climate Control module on a 2001/2002 F150 is almost Exaclty the same. That's what I put in mine for under $40. Works Perfectly!! Direct fit!!

I had a 1993 blue tbird with the 3.8 six and I love that car I traded it to get something for my wife now I wish I had it back it was a perfect mix of luxury sport styling economy and sophistication Ford made a big mistake getting rid of it then bringing it back as a retro

That body platform does not get enough credit way better than any GM Chrysler Dodge platform at that time and the SC model was better than the Grand National

You have a beautiful car outstanding I'd like to know what you paid for it but I'm sure you're not going to tell us I got one thing to say though I took my rims off of my 96 they are identical to yours the twin 5-spoke sanding and getting the powder coat off and buffing them out because they are aluminum and they are Immaculate so either you sell me your car so I can put my rims on it or you should buy my rims and put it on your car because it would look fabulous thank you very much

Dont do it. Youll regret it eventually. I bought a 3.8 mustang cause it was clean with low miles. But the 3.8s charm wore off real quick. Things gutless, but it is a solid motor. I had to drive it 15 miles without coolant because it slowly burns coolant and i didnt notice. Motor still runs great, just have to top it off now and then.
