You hit the nail on the head. Ford is just building what average consumer wants. Something that works well and has high performance for 1 to 2 years because after that who cares if its reliable anyways. Its time to get the new latest and greatest like the neighbors just got. All new vehicles are throw away vehicles. Like the new chevy truck with the turbo 4 cylinder engine or the hemmi v8 with e torque

@@Chappers.Gaming Right, that is the new trend though, make engine unable to last, that equates to more engines being sold and parts. I'll take my good ol 2000 F350 with the 7.3 powerstroke any day over any brand new engine. I've got close to 490k miles on the odo and it still runs strong and hasn't seen any major engine repairs, fires u[ good in the cold and I don't even bother with a block heater, just trans and rear diff couldn't last that long. Plus I can brew my own fuel without worrying about screwing over a high pressure fuel pump with the HEUI injection.

@MRtucnakCZE
@MRtucnakCZE 6 жыл бұрын
I don't mind interference engine, as long as it has atleast chain-driven oilpump. Better yet, chain-driven camshafts. I mean, any engine can do milion miles with proper maintanance. The difference is when you really start abusing it. Something is gonna break. And nowadays engines are made to not just break, but to self-destruct when abused. Thumbs up for 2L diesel, but thumbs down the dorky belt-driven oil pump.
@gregorymalchuk272
@gregorymalchuk272 6 жыл бұрын
Apple_Marty Czech Yeah, but a timing belt failure on an interference engine is just as fatal as an oil pump failure would be. The engine I was thinking of was the little 4 cylinder diesels used in the 1980's Volkswagen Golfs and Rabbits. It was a an awesome engine, and extremely fuel efficient, but it was an interference engine with a timing belt, and many have died because of this.

I have old VW engine, with belt on it and its old as 20 years. Still running. Belt been changed every 4 years or so and until recently it was always filled up with oil bit over the top mark on the oil stick. It ain't no performer, nor sounding great, but it goes. It's bulletproof design, the relic of 70's/80's technology.

Did that man just say belt driven oil pump??
@jackking5567
@jackking5567 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Regardless of teeth in the belt - they all sap energy through tension and rolling force. It's less efficient than a gear train and more prone to breakage (no oil = ded engine). This is simply Ford making things that cannot be repaired. Another example is the sealed cam system - that's a whole new cam set and metal holder/cradle which will cost far too much. This isn't about eco and saving the planet - this is about giving work to Ford service dealerships. Don't even get me started on adblu injection. Combine adblu to the fuel figures quoted and add in the chemical processing to make adblu and ship it. My son's a car mechanic and the Ecoboost engines are only good for 70k miles and then they fall to bits.

Guys complaining about the oil and timing belt, I think you are thinking old rubber timing belts that did not like oil. It appears that Ford has solved this issue as both the timing and oil pump belt run within the crankcase. Clever. Effectively a modern chain ... Here is some reading material on this new type of belt (which never needs changing): www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.ngfeurope.com/~/media/NGF%2520Europe/Site%2520Content/News/Automotive%2520Design%2520Europe%2520Feature.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiyxZ7e59_hAhVVWysKHVDiBuIQFjABegQIDhAE&usg=AOvVaw1RecKRtJbfa9A49jvI8H4C

Another engine each got a belt running on oil? U dont learn the lesson with 1.8tdci engine failure timing belt running on oil and snapped? Not good idea special oil pump driven by a wet belt.
@fnnor
@fnnor 6 жыл бұрын
because ? why going to a louder chain that got also more friction than the belt ?
@axores20
@axores20 6 жыл бұрын
fnnor loud chain? Never heard that engines have issues with chain, if u change the oil on the right interval u shouldn't have problems. And the chain on that engines is small they only drive the fuel pump then a belt goes from the pump to the cameshaft. Still think belt running on oil is not a clever idea. Or why not change the design and put one belt from the bottom to the top and not running in oil like another engines do like psa 2.0 diesel 1.6 tdci etc. This is mine opinion off course someone maybe like the idea belt running on oil snap and pay big bill to repair or have a chain goes louder and pay only for replacement of the chain and not open the engine to fix the bent valves. Each is more cheaper? Replace chain or replace the valves? Replace the chain off course.
@fnnor

@@axores20 if you have a chain driven engine and the chain snaps you will still bend valves, if thats how the engine is designed. also, the dealer told me the 2.0TDCI was a wet belt, same as the 1.8TDCI. and yes the reason manufacturers went to belts in the first place was PURELY due to belts being quieter. and in most cases no less reliable IF you changed them!

I notice several car companies like Ford and Isuzu use the term 'Blue' in their newest diesel engines, like the Isuzu Blue Power, as another example. Is it because these engines use AdBlue? Is it true engines that use AdBlue will refuse to start if you run out of AdBlue in the tank? That kinda sucks, doesn't it?
