Fiat reimagined the 500, Volkswagen did it with the beetle and BMW the mini, maybe it's about time Ford did it with the mk1 or mk2 escort, modern safety and running gear maybe even an electric version, but certainly with the classic lines escort fan's the world over have come to know and love.

Imagine if they brought back a simple yet well built Escort to compete with the Elantras and other eco cars. Of course an RS version down the line and for the love of god release it in the States.

Please do a modern version of the MK1 that looks the same but make it out of aluminium and modern engine and is still pretty bare bones on the inside

Actually we did get a front wheel drive version. The mk3. It has the same engine as the American version called the CVH, looks very similar but has some mechanical differences. When we had these The US had the Pinto. Ford didnt want to market to similar sized cars in the same place.

I had a Mk 1 Escort and the pushrod engine made a lot of noise and not much power. I'm sure the Lotus and BDA/Cosworth ones were much better, but they sell for really stupid prices these days.

Ok I love the European escort but whats the point of an anniversary for a car that you dont make and will not make again since you are canning all cars other than the mustang. We only had a Mercury Capri here but they have all dissappeared. Just drove through a lot yesterday and saw an Ecosport for $32,000 Canadian. Are you bloody kidding me. Your economy SUV my god. Bring back the Pinto or Escort with a real world price tag and you would sell a ton of them if you had a nice design and cheap price. Celebrarion of what... And thwt obnoxious music you always blast at the end of these videos come on we are not rocking mullets and bud lights in our wife beaters.
