Thirty lifts of the starting handle is a bit much three lifts of the handle should be plenty

Too Rich Mixture. by the lumpy running 8 stroking stuttering misfires. Properly tuned and on these settings they should start first or second time. Fuel taps off. Radiator blind closed. Turn fuel tap to petrol drain the float chamber until. the kerosene is flushed out and make sure you closed the drain cock on carb. Catch the drained fuel in a clean container and put it in the kerosene tank Main jet on carburettor 1 & 1/2 turns open. Full Choke with Ignition OFF. Throttle 1/8 to 1/4 open. Engage starting handle Lift Up 4 times. Choke 1/2 to 3/4 closed Turn ignition ON 3/4 Retarded. Engage starting handle and pull upwards smartly. When warm open main jet to 2 & 1/2 turns. Fuel tap To Kerosene. Adjust the timing and Adjust the radiator blind to suit the load on the engine. Taught this in the late 1940's. They are fitted with an "Impulse Magneto" to aid hand cranking. Some models have a removable plug in the intake to prime the intake with petrol in extreme cold

Looks like Fordson tractors are as hard to start as the old Ford cars. Give me a Ferguson anyday.

Mostly it's just a matter of luck and patience. I have both tractors, yes the Ferguson is as reliable as time but the Fordson is full of character.
