I have a 1999 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor and the car overheats whenever I turn the A/C on (I live in the desert so naturally I want it on.) I've replaced the compressor, Accumulator, Condenser, the high and low pressure lines, the Orifice Plug and the cooling fan itself as it would shut off whenever the A/C was turned on and the new A/C compressor clutch would cycle on/off rapidly and will start blowing hot air and then the car will overheat. The only thing I haven't replaced is the evaporator drier. I had the A/C system professionally evacuated and charged when I replaced all these parts so it isn't low refrigerant or too much refrigerant. The car will run all day long in the 100+ degree heat and the new cooling fan comes on like clockwork at 210 degrees according to my OBDII sensor without the A/C on. Any clues as to what is causing the issue?

He is a Ford technician. He will know all the issues with the brand he works on. And he, as well as many other technicians will know NO car is 100% bulletproof. At least ONE thing will break or be guaranteed to break some time during the normal life of a car (before 10 years or 100k)

Mine is 08 ex nc police with street appearance package at 242000 miles. Mother wrecked it. Took out a rav4 and then into a chevy car oncoming. Total loss. I kept car they gave her 2300 for it so i fixed it by pulling core support back straight and with a 98 front bumper hood,header and steering nuckle along with a 08 gm fender. All silver parts. Only real thing under the hood damaged was battery tray. Didnt hurt rad. But this car had the same ac issue as one in this video.

I bought mine for $3000, one owner, all maintenance records. Already had a new intake manifold installed at the dealer, all new AC system, and had the 1-2 accumulator spring fix in the transmission. Such a solid reliable car.

I replaced the accumulator on my step-daughter's 2000 Volvo V70XC last summer. The car is located in the midwest where she goes to college and that accumulator was just absolutely rotted - just like this Grand Marquis. The dye was just oozing out of it. Thankfully the accumulator was easily accessible and I got her AC working 100% again. Thanks for the video, I appreciate that you show it being done the right way and not like a lot of other guys out there simply shoving stop-leak and more refrigerant in there.

Being a 30 years experienced auto tech, I agree with you. Other than the early models with the all plastic intakes with the coolant runner integrated with the intake at the front, these things are pretty much bullet-proof. The climate control panels can be a bit pricey, and some are discontinued by Ford, but overall cheap to fix. I am no fan of Fords but I give credit when due. These are the ONLY Ford vehicles I would consider owning manufactured after year 2000, all the rest are pure junk, especially the trucks and SUV's.

Hello, I just found you and subscribed, a 91 FORD TAURUS was not a car t have owned, but I bought one in good condition from a used car dealer of great reputation , tool care of it eventually the tranny went ‘after’ the recall went, but gad a SEPERATE warranty from that dealer, I only had to pay for engine mounts, had my mechanic install an tranny cooler I had ,,disconnected the ENGINE RADIATOR COOLER, never a problem after so that car quit after 430 K, #5 cyl , low compression , otherwise just routine stuff .replaced it with a 2013 TAURUS , CHEERS FROM NJ USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

BOTH types of videos are good to see. This latter type may benefit those not so inclined to know much about car repair to identify with same type symptoms/sounds. This way they can either go into diagnosing and fixing an issue, or farming it out to someone they trust to repair it. I recommend you, your shop, and your video channel to anyone I know that drives a Ford vehicle. Your knowledge, experience, and reputation stands head and shoulders above many other repair shops I've dealt with in the past. There are those who insist on the dealership route, and that may work for some, but the thoroughness you demonstrate, and your very fair pricing will keep me coming back to you, and continuing recommendations to others to do the same.

My Grand Marquis is a 1996 with 400,000 miles. I did have the dryer replaced, but, I have also had 3 blend door actuators. The dryer on mine is mounted next to the evaporator casing. Those cars with the 4.6 2V and the 4R75E transmission are tough as nails. Great cars! Great video!

Yesterday I got my girlfriend a 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis ls Ultimate Edition with 115,176 miles. Listening to the engine you were running in this video they sound the exact same well they're both 4.6l but I drove it home an hour and a half too our house and I couldn't be happier for $2,100. Oh yeah I am in Maine there's surprisingly little rust because where it lived they only use sand in the Winter.

Hey there ! I flip a few cars just for fun in my retirement. I can say I’m a fan of Lincoln town cars , crown vics, granmarquis. Every time I buy one I check that part. They all fail over time. It’s a cheap easy fix. Just replace and recharge the system. Next would be the brake light switch !! Lol. Great reliable cars built to take a beating. Last of the big v8 road cars ! May I ad the the part was 29.00, pag oil was 6.00 and the clip for hose removal was 3.00. Took me 32 minutes to replace and done. Ice cold Ac every time ! Thanks guys

My wife and I have a 2001 Lincoln town car, and we have owned it since about 51,000 miles we now have 116,000 and have not had any A/C problems, thank GOD For that. Recently replaced front rotors and brake pads, used high performance rotors and brake pads it made a bunch of difference, brakes at least 15% better.

Great vid, Brian. I’ve always loved these cars. I’m on my second ‘86 Grand Marquis in 23 years. The one I have now I bought in January 2003. We take it off the road every winter. 267,000 miles and still running like a champ! I could never understand why FoMoCo insisted on using steel accumulators. Even GM used aluminum, and that company would kill its own kin save a nickel. I’ve got a customer with an 03 crown Victoria. In the process of replacing the door hinges on the left front. I don’t usually buy parts from a Ford dealer, so I got mixed up on dealer’s website, and ended up with a rear hinge. I went back and looked over the site, and even after entering “front left” in the search, it put me on the rear door! I wasn’t too happy with them so they’re covering the shipping back. At least that’s what they told me. Now playing the waiting game. I figured I’d save some time buying the entire hinge, rather than a pin and bushing kit. Live and learn on that one! Fun fun! I think a mix of those videos you mentioned would be great. Enjoyed this one, brother. 👍🍻

I own a 1997 model, I bought it for under 2k about 7 years ago, I have had to replace the blend door motor, MAF Sensor and repair a small patch on the frame near the front passenger side. I did the brakes once and a brake line. I had an exhaust leak at the front flanges and just got the muffler guy to weld a 4 inch section to fix that. I have not had any other issues with the car. I am at 197 000 kms and it runs better than most new cars!

The plastic housing around the accumulator is just for mounting? So one could cut windows in the plastic to allow air movement and reduce the time it takes to rot out?

Hey if you ever need to replace control head do this before. check for fuel smell in red vac line . fuel and pcv bypass rots orings in control head causing blend door and temp settings to skew. orings are available to reseal controll but you have to be patient and extremely clean. check pcv, and purge valve, replace as needed and good to go
