7:21 - Something to keep in mind is the grease near the key tip will eventually migrate into the sealed bearings on the quick change and H30 hand pieces and cause them to overheat and wear out. Foredom recommends cleaning that and one way to avoid it from happening is not letting the flex shaft hang while not in use. Great video!

Foredom makes a little clipped thing that goes onto your flex shaft/pendant motor stand, you can put two shafts with handpieces on each one. This keeps the hand-pieces stored UP.

Woo hoo! 👏 great addition to your bench - so stoked that Pepe Tools has YOU in their arsenal of excellent tool review Amazons! Check out Blain Lewis' Rio Grande stonw setting video to see how the reverse setting on your micro-motor (and the SR pendant motor) is super useful. It was a game changer for me. Congratulations!! So happy for your comfy hands and arms....shoulders, neck....life! 😂❤ 🌺

Thank you Adriana! I have the foredom Marathon micromotor from the Gesswein site which works great for rotatory tools. I have been wanting to get a hammer piece but unfortunately this hammer piece is so expensive ($485) :( I wish I had made a better decision when I purchased it. On a good note, I looove your videos and as far as I am concerned you are a PROFESSIONAL in your craft! Your pieces are amazing beautiful!

I’ve never heard of that one, I’ll have to look it up! I’m sorry to hear you regret it a bit, I was so worried about not picking the right thing too when I first got into this, there are SO many different options for tools that do somewhat of the same thing it can be confusing 🥲🙈 and thank you so so so much for saying that, I definitely feel a bit of imposter syndrome most of the time but, I think that’s normal for most people, especially those that weren’t “formally educated”. I’m very thankful for those that share their processes so that I could learn “on my own” for free 😭💜💜 thank you 💜💜

When I started making jewelry, I used a dental marathon micromotor (less than $100). It didn’t have a foot pedal but it had its benefits. But I needed to get a foot pedal activated tool and purchased the Foredom flex shaft. I really haven’t had the need to go back to the micromotor anymore but there are really affordable options for them if someone’s not really to spend a few hundred on a flex shaft 🙂

Hi Adriana! Thank you for this video it was really helpful ☺☺ I'm planning to change mine and get the micromotor, but since i already have a few tips that i bought for my previous one (DREMEL 3000) i'm worried that my tips won't fit in the new one. Do you know the diameter of the compatible tips for the micromotor? Mine are 3mm. Thank you! 💖

Thanks Adriana, I have been looking at getting a Micromotor over my Pendant for its comfort. There is a Foredom which has both regular and hammer handpieces (dual), its pricey but I think it would be very worth it. Found your channel a couple of weeks ago and am enthralled by your work. Rustic yet elegant. I am keen to try some Lost Wax carving but may have to begin with Delph clay to begin with, is that how you started out on your wax journey?

What. 🫢 If that’s true then wow, that’s the king of them all, thank you for letting me know! 🙌🏼 🎉 and thank you for the compliment on my work 🥹 I did actually try Delph clay once when I first started but I did not have the right torch so it wasn’t successful by any means 😂🙈 I immediately found a cast house after that 🙈 definitely worth a try though, I’ve seen some beautiful work come from delph clay casting 🙌🏼

I have a question, I own a fiber laser machine for cutting silver, gold and copper. After cutting, I notice that there are traces of the laser on the edges that have not gone away. I tried washing them with ultrasonic and tried salt and vinegar. I even tried hydrochloric acid at a high concentration of 34%, but to no avail. Does the micromotor help in polishing the edges from the ends? If yes, what is the feather that I should use?

I'm a beginner when it comes to jewellery making, and I'm looking to buy a motor primarily to drill holes into silver rings and set stones with the grain method, would you recommend the micromotor for these purposes? It feels like a big investment and I'm so indecisive haha
@MiteraMade
@MiteraMade Ай бұрын
I personally feel if your focus is more going to be on stone setting, especially grain and bead setting, than a micro motor would be better, simply because they’re more comfortable to handle over a long period of time and they have less vibration which helps you with precision especially when working with smaller gems. NOW, I’ve done both with both lol and so I also feel like if a micromotor is out of the budget, you absolutely can accomplish a lot with a pendant motor and they really are a work horse. So final answer for your situation, micromotor. 🙌🏼🙈

🤔...the Speed readout for the Micromoter is attractive to me...i might get one down the road. why its because the RPM of the burs and other tools do have a speed they are designed to be used at.

@@MiteraMade sorry I have not checked my KZbin linked email in a while🤔 dont worry about it i genuinely and honestly think this is something a lot of people are ignorant about as I dont think they always read the included literature that comes with a tool (it's the first thing I do even if i have had a similar tool in the past). it's not even mentioned in Formdom Tools and Burs how to use videos but is included in the burs literature they sent i think with the bur holder i am not quite sure.

lol nooooo you definitely don’t need both. 🙏🏻 if I was starting out again and needed to choose, I’d go for the flex shaft. It’s affordable, reliable and has tons of other tools it can attach to to help you with other kinds of work. 💕 The micromotor would be a great choice if you’re only stone setting and already have some sort of pneumatic system to hammer bezels and use your engravers with. 🙏🏻💕 just my two cents 🙏🏻🙌🏼

🤔I think your pendant motor's flex shaft needs to be oiled. Correction: seeing the black goop on it You need to clean your pendant motor's flex shaft, as the grease should not be leaking out of it and should not be black...you might have torn up some of the casing...as i have seen that on my old Dremel flex shaft tool after doing that...and also regrease The sound its making is NOT a good sound. You NEED to do some maintenance on it. i would check the brushes on it too as they might need changing. The instruction manual tells you how to do this.
@MiteraMade

Not going to lie, added the flex shaft grease that came with it to the tip because I assumed it needed it 👀😂 (runs to wipe it off). I’ll look into the maintenance of it all, thank you for pointing that out! 🙏🏻

I've been using my dremel with flex shaft which I bought six years ago for drilling stones and making grooves. Because I'm only just starting out with lost wax work I'm trying to make do with what I've got but I DREAM to get a better piece of equipment because the dremel is uncomfortable when using for long periods. The micromotor sounds amazing but I really do want a hammer handpiece so I’ll probably go for a pendant motor. Next on the list is a proper ring vice though. I'm currently using a massive handymans vice that's SUPER heavy haha
