Looking to master the forehand with power and consistency? Let's dive into some key techniques that can elevate your game. The secret lies in the setup and the execution of the swing.
Key Takeaways:
Racket Setup: Ensure your racket is in a hooded position, with the face slightly looking down. This setup provides the right angle for a powerful shot.
Left Arm Position: Pay attention to your left arm and hand. Pushing it towards the ground helps in setting up your body with loaded energy, ready to be released. 💪
The Swing Sequence: Remember the one, two, three parts of the swing:
Position One: Initial setup with the racket up.
Position Two: Bring the racket down horizontally. The elbow drives forward, allowing the racket head to drop backward. This creates the whip-like acceleration. 🌀
Position Three: Release with a locked-out arm position. Ensure the racket head remains straight, neither dropping below the wrist nor being too cocked above the ball.
Follow Through: A straight follow-through ensures the ball is sent to the back with consistency, pace, and power. 🚀
By mastering these techniques, you'll be hitting forehands with more power and consistency in no time! 🌟

@@JesseEngelbrechtSquash Thanks! I am probably not the best person to ask this question, since I have already bought the squash skills membership and watched each one of your videos/playlists completely. I am still in the process of implementing and incorporating all the points discussed in those videos. One thing that I was not able to get from those videos is how to punish loose shots that land around the center that can be volleyed. How can I create space to punish these loose shots and what solo/pair training can I do to improve this?

Great comment. Let me get at making some. Simply it's about being quick and urgent with your feet. Getting round to an optimal side-on position. Having threat and options with a still racket head. And often it's about being simple with a straight drop. Directing it close to the side wall with a transfer of body weight would be the best. A video will help and will do a range of attacking shots from loose positions in the middle off the volley and bounce @@fahadaijaz4

In position 1, should the cocked wrist will make the racket head more open and pointing to the back wall? I can see it pointing more to the front wall

I'll do a video on this soon about having a cocked wrist and at what part of the swing this is appropriate. For me the wrist being cocked is more about having the top of the racket pointing upwards to the ceiling and the right hand edge facing the side wall. If the wrist is cocked and the racket is facing towards the back this will close the racket face. Quite hard to explain on text but hope that helps a little? Keep an eye out for a video on this soon
