Thanks for this video Laura, I've been learning Spanish for 4 years and I still struggle to speak in front of native speakers bc I get so nervous. I forget words because of the fear of being judged. But I can and will speak it aloud to myself.

It's one of my fav videos right after the one where you use all the languages you speak! 😄🥰 Laura, I can listen to you endlessly, you're truly my comfort language mentor KZbinr 🙃 I guess, I have an idea for a learning-related tattoo, then! "Speak to yourself, baby!" 😛

Learning Arabic! I'm using my KZbin to practice a little, but I'm moving to an Arabic speaking country so it will be a necessity.

You said that talking to yourself may help. I speak to myself in foreign language anytime I can. I also write a lot. Whenever I practice, I'm able to use many "sophisticated" words and my pronunciation sounds almost perfect. However, when it comes to a real life conversation I forget all the words and grammar and it feels like I sound so primitive which stops me from speaking properly even more.

I get that too! What helped me a bit is slowing down. As in when I speak to people in foreign language I actively try speaking a bit slower than I would in my native language. It gives me time to maybe find nicer words or more advanced grammar. Or I just backtrack and correct myself - that happens too 😅

Loved this video, Laura! I'm an English teacher and English is my second language. Sometimes I feel less confident about my skills and I think this video is super helpful for those who need to trust and accept themselves.

Hi Sweetie! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm so happy this resonated with you. ❤ I also think us teachers face a similar but different situation. Depending on how long we teach, who we teach, what level learners we teach, and so many more factors, our language and confidence level might change and fluctuate! I think this deserves a separate video because I've noticed that many teachers I talked to about this felt the same way! And it's so easy to blame ourselves for it and not know what to do. Let me know what you think about this ❤

1. My videos have *minimum* 1,5k views, not maximum, Sweetie 2. That's how KZbin works sometimes 3. Thank you for helping me with the algorithm by leaving this comment ❤
