FOREIGNER Gets HIGH on Indian Cigarettes! 🇮🇳

I wanted to try these Indian cigarettes, called Bidi. I got a bit high from them, quite strong for a foreigner. They are mostly the choice of the poorer people (but not only), as they gets very cheap. I still enjoyed them, and I ended up smoking more of them throughout the India trip, and usually nobody believed their eyes that a foreigner would smoke them. After you get used to them, you don't really get high anymore, and they are quite enjoyable (although still strong).

Bidi is similar to cigarette the only difference is instead of paper in cigarette it has leaf and also no filter. They all were thinking that you were asking for ganja (weed). BIDI is pretty much legal.

Beedi is like a mini cigar. It's a whole tobacco leaf (or 2) rolled-up. The man in the first store said "it's illegal in our country" because he assumed you were asking for weed. 😂

It's not a tobacco leaf it's a bidi tree leaf which is why it's called a Bidi and the tobacco inside is flakes of tobacco leaf swept up or collected during the tobacco drying and cigarette manufacturing process that would usually be used nowadays for extraction to make nicotine for non tobacco nicotine products like vapes or thrown away.

I started smoking from smoking bidis back in the 90s it's just natural tobacco leaf flake leftovers from cigarettes manufacturing rolled in a bidi tree leaf. I'm Native Canadian not Indian but there was a Punjabi Bodega like shop near our school that would sell them to minors by the case of 10 packs of 20 for $25🇨🇦 so they were cheaper than cigarettes and very accessible. A lot of teenagers smoked them back then. I don't see them around much anymore which is weird because Canada has millions of Indians nowadays.

There were also Vietnamese, Chinese and Indonesian owned convenience stores that sold clove cigarettes called Krekets that were rolled in a leaf too and looked like bidis but smelled like Christmas. I didn't much care for them but we would sometimes empty them and mix it with weed so that it disguised the smell and we could smoke them in front of the school and any security officer or staff that asked what it was we could show them the pack of Kreteks.

You should have tried the little colorful packets. I tried them before, they contain Beetle nut pieces coded with beetle nut extract and sugar. Gets you high for a short while, but its not as strong as fresh beetle nut.(Fresh beetle nut can make you pass out if you are not used to it)

It is called Beedi (spelled bee-ree) and is made by rolling Tobacco in leaves of a tree called Tendu (Diospyros Melanoxylon) which is a tree native to India. It is more like a cigar than a cigarette.Beedi is completely legal in India. Infact, it is sold more than cigarettes. You can't normally get the raw materials in shops to roll one for yourself. Maybe you can go to the small scale manufacturers if you want to try rolling it yourself.
