Not many people are paying for a TV licence anymore. Such a scam. Don't answer the door to the "enforcers". Or speak to them in your mother tongue, preferably bad language & you're sorted.

Most of what you found strange about religous holidays was still more as you remember in my youth. The commercial influence mainly came from the U.S.A. Now we have other, even less desirable ones.

You do not need to pay for a TV license if you do not watch live tv (tv as it is broadcast) or live events on for instance, Netflix or BBC Iplayer. Just tell them on the website you no longer need one and that is it. As long as you do not do any of the things in the preceding sentence, you are breaking no laws. You will get the odd letter trying to intimidate you, just ignore them. If you get a visit from an "enforcement officer" (really a Capita employed salesman/woman), DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM. Simply tell them "no thanks" and close your door in their faces. They have to identify themselves but never get into a conversation with them. Ideally, record the encounter.

but why should someone pay license to watch tv when he is using his own electricity and bought tv with his own money. haha oh because bbc makes propaganda news so people need to pay for the govt propoganda?? lol haha crazy but feel sorry for people.

A lot of European countries pay a TV license, in Germany it's about 200 euros a year.

What u r paying for in a tv licence is funding the BBC which , because they don’t get paid for advertising products, there only have the licence fee as their source of income. Maybe learn about WHY you pay for tv licence.

To be fair, they need to have a rethink. Many are not happy with TV licencing. Paying for your own brainwashing.
