Funny thing about American apple pie. Apples aren’t native to America, only crabapples. Apple trees were brought from Europe, but they wouldn’t produce apples until European honeybees were brought a few years later. We used to make pie crusts like the French puff pastry until the author of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” wrote a cookbook and suggested working the butter into the flour with your fingers rather than folding the dough around it creating layers. After some adjustments over the years, her change led to the pie dough we currently are familiar with.

@@LHTGRNEYES The United States hasn"t been the Best Country in the world for years. I was unaware that they were ever the Best Country. They certainly are up there with the best, a beautiful country. The U.S. scores low on such things as quality of life and education and scores high in pollution and incarceration. To be honest, your statement is incorrect.

when that french lass said she was from Toulouse came as no surprise, cool people, great city close to the Mediterranean & the Pyrenees, home to the European aerospace industry (Concorde was constructed in Toulouse) yet its history stretches back to 2nd century BC and its university one of the oldest in Europe founded in 1229 and its twinned with Atlanta. If anyone should ever visit France I recommend you go to Toulouse and if you got kids then you must take them to the Halle de La Machine,a vast hall that houses numerous small or giant animated machines, often inspired by the world of aeronautics, human or technological epics.Imagine Leonardo da Vinci meets Mad Max then become best friends with Steam Punk and then create something weird & whacky together
