Youp van 't Hek is a famous Dutch comedian. The performance of the song was a part of his show. You need to know that and his dark comedy style to get this song right away. You found out quite quick. I hope you can laugh about it by now. For every person that was humiliated for being too sensitive by grown-ups when he/she/them was a child, this is the ideal revenge song.

It sorta happened to my dad. It was pretty normal back then to have rabbits and eat them at Christmas. But my dad knew as a kid why they had rabbits. So he never really bonded with them.

Yeah, this is our dutch dark comedy, when u hear this on the radio its christmas. Its a little based on history since in the 50's and 60's it was not uncommon for people to breed their own food at home, plants or small animals.

Yeah, that happened all the time when we were young, but mostly the dads and grandpa's survived. Blood all over the bikes. True. So I always showed my kids how to make good food from animals without lying to them. Bloody business anyway, but at least they were not lied to. They are grown now, but they still like my food.

The Rabbit was slaughtered in the bike shed after the rabbit pen was found empty. Now Dad's bed was empty and Mother should NOT go to the bike shed. . Thinks for a few seconds and you will find the Hannibal Lector.

This is Dutch humor, dark on the edge, recognisable and slightly uneasy. A sweet revenge story of a pet turned into a christmas dinner. You probably heard it by now but this comedian once destroyed the non alcohol beer brand 'Buckler' in one of his comedy routines.

2:31 Yes, Flappie became christmas dinner. Post war Europe was increadibly poor, but the Netherlands was not as densly populated back then, so people outside of the cities kept animals and had a vegetable garden to get enough food. Most kept rabits and chickens, but some had two pigs as well, one for them selves and one to pay the butcher. One of my grandfathers came from the city and apparently, he was scared to death when he found a pig hanging on a ladder in my grandmother's shed.😂 Chickens and rabits were butchered at home, chickens with an axe, rabits sometimes with a gun, but usually by beating with a stick or a hamer.

Oh and about the dark humor it's not the worst, like you can find in family circles. My niece and nephew alway used to tease me by asking: when i would die, so that they could inherit my Lego 🤣 (They were 10 and 6 at the time)

It is relatable to a lot of Dutch kids from that era. They had it happen to them and some kids had these dark thoughts kinda secretely wished they could do that to their dad. Only to Youps fictional dad it actually happened.

As a Dutch person I never connect the boy to Jeffrey Dahmer. But indeed even the glasses is comparable. Many Dutch humor is dark or sarcastic. 😁

He didn't kill his dad. He made his mother believe that. That is the joke of the song. Probably the father is locked up in the shed or something. What goes around, comes around. Or as we would say boontje kont om zijn loontje.
