All Filipino nurses are working hard nite and day with out complaint ! Filipinos are not complainer well educated English speakers and with Bachelors Degrees comparable to US standard . Majority of us nurses took qualifying exam College Graduate of Foreign Nursing School aside from taking NCLEX . I will offer some observations of a retired US businessman: 1) Most of the Dr’s in my area (S Florida) are immigrants. 2) among other things I worked for a number of years in Manhattan in the financial sector. Many of the astute, hardworking people in my field were from India. 3) The Philippine people I know can deal with incredible stress and maintain a positive attitude. 4) The Philippine people I know are a generous and giving people. 5) I assume like most immigrants the Philippine people will outwork their US counterparts because they better see the opportunities presented in the US. I think some of my observations probably contribute to the success of immigrants in the US. The immigrants also contribute to the success of the US.

Filipinos (not Filipino and Filipinas). This is a common mistake. Filipina is informal way of saying Filipino woman. In the Philippines when we speak in our language, we call Americans, Americano and Americana. Australians, Australiano and Australiana. But when we speak English, we say Americans. Australians. For Japanese, we say Hapon and Haponesa. Koreans, Koreano and Koreana.

Not to bragg but I'm one of the sailors recruited in the Philippines in early 70's. We work very hard; one of the goals is to own a home and many have more than one. I personally know in just my same group of northern Philippines own 3 or more ; at least the first generation work hard and knew how to leverage buying real estate. Many don't flaunt but besides real estate many learn financial opportunities.

Not all nurses. We were children of mostly nurses but some doctors and engineers. Our parents worked 2 jobs to buy more cars and furnitures. The next generation, that’s us, surprisingly, most of us landed solidly by staying in school, getting our bachelor’s degree, and some did not graduate, and went on with different careers. I ended up as a teacher, married a wonderful Filipino American ( born and raised in the US). Our assets not only came from salaries but from equities of homes and previous rental. Our kids pursue their own careers, both scientists - a doctor and environmental scientist… I was also blessed with a career to teach Filipino language and culture. Not reported is the Filipino American scores in standardized testing of Filipino students from 3rd grade to 11th grade in our state. Their scores surpassed the scores of other students from different ethnic groups including white students except other Asians (all Asians except Filipinos) that’s the kind of good news that’s not published anywhere unless you research it as I did as a teacher to see trends of students’ scores from standardized testings so that we have an idea on how all students are performing.
