Foreigner 4 was the first cassette I had to play in my 64 Oldsmobile Super 88. God this takes me back to 1982... :) The Sax in Urgent is unmatched till this day... I turned that shit up and hauled ass through the California Desert. Awesome times. :)

Actually there were 2 Foreigners. One was the ass kicking classic rock band of the seventies. The other is the watered down eighties version.

This song URGENT is one of the greatest rock songs and certainly most popular rock songs of all times. I love it no matter who sings it and no matter in what decade as long as the singer is good. Low Gramm is a great singer and so is KellyHansen and I love them both singing this favorite song of mine.

it's not Foreigner...without Lou it's just the rest of the band backing up a dude doing Foreigner karaoke! #BringBackLou!
@geerterri8 жыл бұрын
+tmru2b Karaoke groups don't write, release and chart new music. This incarnation of Foreigner has. And as much of the backbiting and sour grapes that Lou has been throwing out about this incarnation of Foreigner, I really don't see Mick wanting anything to do with him anymore.
@tmru2b8 жыл бұрын
+Terri Geer incarnation, 2.0, call it what you will it's not 'Foreigner' and from the sound of what went down Lou has every right to feel screwed over and slighted...and if Mick is going to trade on the name, then he damn well better be ready to have the backstory come with it. Mick's only solo claim is greed and without Lou/Foreigner he's a nobody.
@geerterri8 жыл бұрын
+tmru2b Of course it's Foreigner. You just don't like it. As for Mick trading on the Foreigner name, it has always been his, just as the band has always been his. Lou has no right to feel screwed over or slighted. Lou voluntarily walked away from Foreigner in 2003 to go solo. He still gets royalties and always will for the songs that he helped write.

The point was I paid for a "Foreigner" show at Rama. More importantly, to see Mick play. The concert was Promoted as tho he was going to play. The posters leading into the venue had him on them. Didn't find out he wasn't playing until the first song. That is misrepresentation. Not what I paid for.

Just goes to show ya the untapped talent out there ...
@geerterri8 жыл бұрын
+john doe Untapped talent? I don't understand what you are talking about. Kelly Hansen has been singing professionally since his Senior year in High School. The previous group that he fronted was Hurricane. It disbanded only after their record company imploded. But they had won 5 music video awards, and more and more of their songs were charting. They were touring 300 days a year. Tom Gimble has been part of Foreigner for 20 years. Jeff Pilson was part of Dokkan. The drummer in this video is Mark Shulman (sp?). He has played with a LOT of bands. He is currently playing with Cher.
@mrooster7218 жыл бұрын
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS EVER.
@geerterri8 жыл бұрын
I've always loved Foreigner. And I've always loved Hurricane. Even in his mid-late 20's Kelly has always seemed to belong on stage. And that self confidence of his has grown and been refined through time and experience. Mick has, once again, put a band together that is tight and fits beautifully. Sometimes, I think that that is more important than just being able to play. All I know is that I am just plain delighted to watch them. Until Mick put this reincarnation of Foreigner together, I didn't think that I liked replacements in a band. That's mostly because I've been a Journey fan since their Infinity album. Once I saw this incarnation of Foreigner I started realizing, and doing some research, that almost every single band changes players during its lifetime. Sometimes, the front many (if he leaves) comes back later, but sometimes they don't. Foreigner is no exception. What I have discovered, though, is that I have no problem with Arnel being frontman for Journey. The person that I have a problem with (a HUGE problem) is Neal Schon. I despise the man, and freely admit it. I will, however, go to see Foreigner even if they are on the same bill as Journey. I like the current Foreigner that much.

Without Lou Gramm it's just not the same! Just like Journey without Steve Perry, you can't replace greatness!!!
@geerterri8 жыл бұрын
+TheInspector1962 This is simply not true. Almost every single band changes their line up over the years. When Journey (Neal Schon, actually) burned its bridges with Steve Perry, they lost their ability to create. Even Jon Caine admits that. With Foreigner that didn't happen. They have written (Mick and Kelly) new music, released it and had it chart. And, in case you hadn't noticed, Lou left the group three times. The first was to go out on his own, the second time was medically (so I don't really think that counts), he came back to the group after he got well, then he left, once again, to go out on his own. What's interesting, to me at least, is that Lou didn't complain about the two singers before Kelly. Kelly he complains about. IMO, it's because Kelly does on hell of a job and it is obvious.

Saw Foreigner in 2006 with Kelly singing and the show was off the charts awesome. Met Tom Gimbel after the show and he took us back inside the theater and introduced us to a couple other members, including Jason Bonham (who was INCREDIBLY nice). Didn't meet Kelly or Mick though :( I've also seen Foreigner with Lou and Johnny Edwards - and the show with Kelly was by far the best. Really just an amazing show from start to finish. Now if only Kelly would do another XYZ album :)
