In modern times, typhoon alarms are the thing! My birthplace is Camarines Sur and was hit by 3 strong typhoons in the last 22 days and my village/barrio is still submerged in dirty floodwaters since November 12th. Fortunately, my parents' house has minimal damage, but sadly many lost their homes and livelihoods. Take care and keep safe. From Norway with love.

It's from laguna's point of view. They weren't hit by rolly as bad as bicol. If you ask a bicolano. They will say rolly is way stronger.

Mike, your observation is correct as the presence of many tall buildings somewhat negated the strong winds.

Do not open windows if you are inside a building. The interior of the building would be positively charged. It could cause windows or doors be pushed out. Just like trying to blow a paper/plastic bag. The air has to escape somewhere. Stay safe and take care.

Typhoon Vamco (PH name: Ulysses) is a rare November major typhoon that affected both Philippines and Vietnam from November 10 to November 18. The storm did typhoon damage in the Philippines as a Category 1 typhoon before entering the South China Sea. 3 days later Vamco peaked it's maximum intensity of Category 4 with winds up to 130 mph, or 210 kilometers per hour, made landfall in Vietnam in November 15 and finally dissipated after the day. The scariest thing when a typhoon come isn't the initial landfall, it's the flooding. Massive amount of rainfall caused billions of damage in total for both country. The 2020 season was extremely active mostly in the South China Sea and the PH Coast. The Philippines and Vietnam did received catastrophic damage from flooding and strong typhoons. Nearly a week earlier, super typhoon Goni (PH name: Rolly) peaked and impressive strength for a very strong super typhoon with winds up to 190 miles per hour or 305 kilometers per hour, made it's great damage in the Catamduanes province, making it was the worst storm to strike Philippines since 2013.

Rolly is actually a super typhoon. Luckily, Metro Manila and other provinces of Southern Luzon (CALABARZON) are spare from strong winds and intense rain due to Rolly's further weakening while traversing the Quezon Province.

@@lanceandreitan22 what differentiate rolly from ulysses was rolly weakened a lot as it impacts the other areas and it is a significantly smaller system and the rainfall it produce is moderate. Whereas Ulysses was a massive system its clouds reaching mindanao and what it lacks with very strong winds of rolly is its extremely torrential rainfall that inundated as high up north as isabela and cagayan. And the fact that it maintained its typhoon status even after exiting zambales makes it a more significant threat to more areas than rolly did.

I remember one typhoon that hits Bicol region, 5 members of my relatives perished, luckily my Mother was in Manila that time. All their houses were destroyed, rice fields, river were washed out and were covered by volcanic sand and rocks as big as cars.
