Very cultured couple esp Carol. When Cris is talking about the Sinigang and Sinangag sounding the same, she said its the language and acknowledged its still different. I remember the vlog where she did not go with you in a public pool because of the 2 piece thingy. Very respectful of different cultures. More blessings to you both. Sinigang is one of my fave Filo dish, i love sour soup.
@marco_rance4 жыл бұрын
Carol, your sinigang is LEGIT. I just personally boil the whole tomatoes and mashed it when they’re already soft. Trust me it will make a difference to your sinigang. 😊 And hopefully you can have the bangus deboned in the market next time. It will make the eating experience more pleasurable. And yeah we mainly have soy sauce with calamansi as a dipping sauce for grilled or fried stuff like fish or any seafood. Overall I love that you are enjoying the food here. Keep safe there!
@Cdesf4 жыл бұрын
I don’t put tomatoes at all in my sinigaang. Yes bangus has thousands of bones. And is best deboned. It’s a freshwater farmed fish and not would be my first choice for fish sinigang. Something from the sea is better & cleaner INMHO.

Hi guys next time you can try 2 ripe and mashed guava instead of the pre mix sauce if you’re doing sinigang na bangus make sure you clean the fish thoroughly remove the gills and belly stuff and have it scaled and cleaned in the market If you can find deep sea fish like tuna or the small vatiety called tulingan or even a lapu lapu fish try making a souplike you did. just don’t put the sinigang mix and instead put a piece of lemon grass and two spoon ginger remember everything the same but try different fish because bangus is super bony and don’t put the sinigang mix instead put lemon grass and two table spoon ginger the dish is called fish tuwa or fish Tinola try it you will be speaking Filipino before you even know it😊😊😊 and before I forget try placing a piece of fish on top of your rice then just a couple drop from your seasoning condiment made of 1 pc red chili + 2 calamansi + 3 tablespoon fish sauce in a saucer

I love the way you are trying the Filipino food. I live abroad but l still cook my food like the way you do guys. I prefer my food to be cooked from THE SCRATCH rather than microwavable or instant food. And l noticed that you guys love fish like me. But what is amazing is... Westeners don't like to eat fish with the head on it, they said it's YUCKY. But l think, it's only how you accept and understand the culture. But you guys are broad minded and aren't afraid to try new things. I bet you can live like a girl/boy scout in other countries. You guys are RESORCEFUL I noticed that you didn't put any ginger in sinigang which is very important for fish to be less fishy smell. And adding the tamarind powder should also be poured little by little until you reach the desired sourness, because if it's too sour it won't be delicious. Also sinigang doesn't need black pepper actually. Also plain white rice is the best combination of sinigang. Garlic rice would be great for fried eggs, bacon, tocino or longanisa. Garlic rice should be stir fried with onions and season it with a pinch of salt. The soy sauce=calamansi is optional and you must pour it little by little on your rice depends how much salty you want. Overall, you guys are great. Keep up the good work! Mabuhay!
@benzventura66224 жыл бұрын
Hello. The soy sauce with calamansi could/should be as condiment to your sinigang to add or enhance the flavor of the soup.

I'm sure Carol misses Brazil. I am a Filipino and I have been to South America and lived in Brazil for a few years. I have been to many cities from North to South, East and West of Brazil. It's a beautiful, vibrant country with beautiful people. Brazilians are warm and very friendly. The country has lots of resources, and lots of food! Plenty fresh fruits and vegetables and they are cheap! I love their food, I love the people, and I love the country! I wish to visit Brazil again someday.

That looks exactly how I know "sinigang". You can put as much vegetable as you want and normally I just like the vegetables especially leafy vegetables (no cabbages or mushrooms though). I don't think that was "kangkong" (water spinach) - it looks like sweet potato leaves. That's okay to use as well so I am just correcting it just in case you see the real water spinach. With leafy vegetables, you can soak them on a glass of water so they stay fresh for a long time (in fact, you can propagate them through this technique). With Filipino cooking, each provinces have different way of cooking so it is hard to see exactly the same recipe everywhere - only the key ingredients are the same. But I never put sugar in my adobo. With sinigang, I never put the amount stated on recipes especially if you're using the commercially made mix - put some then taste. They can be too sour. Traditionally, we don't use fried rice with dishes that have soup. Also the idea of cooking fried rice is to eat the left over rice. In the old days when there are no fridges or microwave, it is the way to cook "old" , cooked rice. So if you want fried rice, cook extra so you can make fried rice the following day. And in my opinion, fried rice is better eaten with dry dishes so you can taste the ingredients in the fried rice better. Great vlog and glad you're cooking. Hope you like them enough to cook them again.

In our house we use leftover cooked rice for sinangag. We try garlic til slightly brown, pour in the leftover rice, and put in half teaspoon salt. No soy sauce. .Btw, your sinigang powder mix should only be half packet and you can adjust the sourness afterwards.
@allen77774 жыл бұрын
My husband and I always watching your vlogs. In regards with the fish, you can actually ask the fish vendor to cut it to "sinigang cut". You can also ask them if they can debone the fish for you but this is applicable when your making daing na bangus which is also delicious.

Well done Carol. My favourite chef. Many already said it, but dont buy whole fish, ask them to fillet for you or ask for less b9ny fish. And, no matter where the recipe is from, always taste it as you add the ingredients slowly, particularly sauces, etc. But, it looked beautiful .
@annalopz4 жыл бұрын
I would not recommend you putting soy sauce on the rice when you’re eating sinigang. The best accompaniment to sinigang isa a dib of fish sauce. The rice is supposed to neutralise the sourness of the sinigang. If you want it to be less sour, then put less of the mix (1-2 teaspoons).
