I've been living in Tagbilaran in 9 years, 2003 to 2012. I still have a big property there. I moved to Europe in 2017, but now I start longing back. It warmed my hearth to see this charming video from the city -- I recognized quite a bit. I fell I'll be back soon. Living in super-expensive Oslo just sock my money as fast as I earn them. In Bohol my retirement income, and the nice local people, makes me a king.

Pink sauce is bagoong. It is fermented seafood, typically tiny shrimp that is used as a salty condiment. Bagoong comes in several types and varieties many of which range in color from light pink to dark brown. The pink ones are generally more pungent and salty since they are uncooked, with the darker ones being more mellow since they are sauteed. Kare kare is a meat and veggie stew with a peanut based sauce and is usually served with bagoong to add a sharp salty contrast to cut through the thick rich peanut sauce. Next time you have Kare kare, pour the sauce on your rice then dab a bit of bagoong onto a piece of meat/ vegetable before eating with a big spoonful of sauced rice... absolutely one of my favorite bites of filipino food ever.
@angelotimonera79672 жыл бұрын
Hi Bianca, that reddish stuff in a small serving bowl is a suated fermented shrimp paste or "bagoong" for the "kare-kare" dish. Because kare-kare is cooked not seasoned so you have to mix a little bit of bagoong to your rice and kare-kare that will complete the taste together!

Tagbilaran and Dumaguete are similar in size but I think Tagbilaran is cleaner but doesn't have as much nightlife, but we still had a great time in and around Bohol 🙂👍 great video guys 💕💖

Thanks for showing us around Bohol, have you decided to permanently stay in Iloilo? We choose San Pablo Laguna, near bypass road, have quick access to north, south, east, west. CLose to all supplies but far enough from the hustle and bustle.btw as far as the weather wise, the area is not directly hit by storm, no fault lines for earth quake and no flood. We still wanna learn more about the area your looking at pros and cons.

Thanks 4 info, I didn’t kno the pork dish. Wonder the Filipino name. I was kinda wincing when B. took a straight shot of baggoong though! I know it & like it & sometimes crave it but it is sooo salty😆. I prefer it really fresh not from a jar & can’t really access that in our area.

P.s. I was taught by my mother 2 use jarred bagooong as Ingred. In pinakbet. I don’t do baggoong as a dipping sauce much
