Hi just discovered your channel.. its nice that you and carol were able to manage living in this kind of situation. I just have a suggestion tho.. next time if your going to buy some fish, try to ask the vendor to clean the fish for you, because they can do that for you like take out the gills and fish intestine. Im enjoying watching your vlog since i grew up there in palawan.

I like how you guys are trying to cope with the situation, just a couple of tips: 1. Ask your neighbors if they can lend some wire so you can make a clothes line in your rental, very sure they will lend a hand. You can also ALWAYS borrow a can opener and or a better tib for washing clothes, they will help you 100% 😊 2. Buy a bar of laundry soap, laundry powder and the fabcon and then when you wash your clothes, fill up the tub with water then put the powder and make it bubbly before you put the clothes(let the clothes soak for about 15mins and make sure to separate the whites). Then you use the bar when youre actually washing the clothes still in the same water. Rinse 3 times. Fill up the tub with water again, pour the fabcon and mix with the water and put the rinsed clothes let it soak for about 5mins and then just squeeze the water out from the clothes

This vlog is really plain simple but the way how they share their everyday life is quite interesting. Also, I like how they both remain patient despite of what is happening due to COVID-19. I guess them, staying in El Nido, even their situation seems harder, it is still the best decision not to travel back to their countries yet. I believe that they will be a lot safer away from COVID-19 in Palawan. Just stay patient you two. Things will get better soon! Filipino subscriber ~

Rinse squeeze and hang to dry.

Hand washing differs from person to person. Below is how I do it. 1. Separate clothes! First batch: white/light-colored clothes. Second batch: colored clothes! ***reason you separate, is to ensure you do not ruin your white/light colors from absorbing unwanted dyes from your other clothes. 2. Soak white/light colors with detergent preferably use half the pack (don't use too much water), and leave for 30 minutes to 1 hour. 3. While the white/light color clothes are soaked in detergent go and and start washing the colored clothes. 4. To start washing.. On a basin of half-full of water, pour detergent (half a pack), put one clothing at a time. 5. Decide on where you want to start first, example.. you want to wash the left sleeve first. So just grab on two sides of that left sleeve with both hands, and rub them together. Continue doing this for 20 seconds on each section that you cover, or until the clothes are clean. 6. Once done with one garment, wring and squeeze. You can wash all first with detergent and then pile them together afterwards. 7. Once done, start rinsing your clothes. Do this two to three times, until there is less detergent in the water, or none. And on the last rinse, just wring your clothes until they're damp, and hang them dry. 8. Finally, repeat the process with your white/light colored clothes that are waiting on the other basin. Leaving them soaked would have loosen some unwanted dirt sticking to your clothes. Good luck!

to do the laundry by hand: (I hope this helps) 1. melt the laundry powder first in a bucket of water w/o clothes 2. put 3-4 pieces of clothes first then scrub them well. add more clothes as you finish other clothes. 3. rinse the clothes well 2-3 times and on the 3rd rinse, add the packet of fabric conditioner. and same as step 2, rinse 3-4 pieces of clothes first for the last rinse. this is to not over crowd the bucket since you only have a small bucket there. keep safe in the Philippines friends!

That was interesting - seeing how you cope with simple life in your little house/ bungalow. Filipina here, lockdown in Luzon. I started watching your vids during this quarantine period. I think it's a good idea that you transferred to a house with kitchen, so you're be able to cook your own food & save $$. For the fish, you can ask the fish vendor to remove scales & innards - as others have said. As for cooking vids - aside from usual veg dishes (pinakbet, chopseuy, sinanglaw), you can try tuna sisig or tofu sisig. Tofu is called "tokwa" in Tagalog. Some veg sellers sell tokwa too. Many vids/ instructions on how to cook tuna or tofu sisig. You can also try sweet and sour tofu (usually it's done with pork, so just substitute with tofu). You can try to do exercise vids too. Stay positive and keep safe! :-)

Thanks for the video. I think that it is important for you to understand that these quarantine videos have some historical significance. It is an accurate account of your real life experiences during the most important historical event of our lifetimes. For that reason, it may be viewed long off in the future by those studying the events of today. Some of the things you discuss and report may at times seem mundane to you compared to your regular travel videos. However they are not as you are writing history. People in the future will ask themselves: 'What was it really like when that happened?'. You are telling them what it was like. Thanks.

Yes but with the bargain thing, I wouldn't do it because those fishermen selling the fish are the ones who are in need, so instead of bargaining with them to buy a fish with a lesser price, I'd rather buy it with the price they gave it because they are the ones who are in need. We who are blessed enough to have a comfortable life shouldn't practice bargaining to those who are in need. We can't even bargain in a restaurant, why bargain to those people in the lower class. When u buy fish ask them to clean for u, remove d scales and the inside of it have it sliced .... you can put chopped onions, tomatoes and salt the inside of milkfish and salt on d outside , cover it with banana leaves or foil steam or char grill voila!!! U have yummmy meal, u can fry the milkfish, galunggong , tilapia...just sprinkle with salt!!! I know it sucks every time you withdraw money u lose a lot 🤨anyways enjoy ur stay here... been binge watching ur videos, Carol is a lovely woman and she’s 👍💯for keeps😉Palawan maybe an expensive place , be patient and good learning experience .... Calamansi si is like ur lemon, u can make juice put little sugar , it’s good also for fish to remove fishy ness....make adobo chicken ask d locals how anywYs it’s just soy sauce either calamansi or vinegar and lil water pepper that’s it😊

Nowadays I'd rather do the cleaning of the fish myself to avoid possible contamination. Less human touch the better. The faster you get out of the wet market the better.

aumarigan Wet markets in the Philippines specially in El Nido are not like the wet markets in China where they sell animals that are not fit for human consumption. It’s just better to shop early in the morning while the fish, meats and veggies are still fresh. You probably have more stuff that’s going to kill you eating western meats and farmed fish.
