Addiss: I think it’s developing. There was always conversation of how much relationship you have between Rian and Deet. We were very aware that Mira’s death is a big part of the show, and we didn’t it to be like, “Well yeah, now she’s drained, so hello new Gelfling”...I think there’s strong affection. I think we are pushing toward a growing relationship between them, that it is going to be romantic. We don’t think it is yet, but that is our goal.

I know many believe Rian and Deet are Jen’s parents(which could be the case) but am I the only one who thinks there’s a strong possibility that Rian and Deet are actually Kira’s parents? The case for Rian being Kira’s father: I always thought it was interesting that Rian’s girlfriend in the beginning Mira has a name that sounds too similar to the name Kira, Mira and Kira? Hmmmmm🤔. Perhaps Rian has a daughter and named her after his first love who had a tragic death. I also thought that the throne that Kira sits on in the original movie looks very similar to the throne that the Madura of Stone Wood sits on.(Rian’s Clan) Since the Clans are ruled by a matriarch, that could have been a foreshadow that Rian’s daughter Kira would’ve been the next Madura of Stone Wood. The Ruins in the original movie look extremely similar to the architecture of the Stone Wood throne room. It would be nice to see Rian succeed in saving Deet from the Darkening since he wasn’t able to save his first love Mira from The Skeksis. The case for Deet being Kira’s mother: Deet’s character is very similar to Kira. Deet is very in tune with nature as well as Thra’s creatures(and so is Kira). Deet befriends a Fizzgig just like Kira, and she also is close to Hup, a podling. Which is interesting since the Podlings took care of Kira, after her parents were killed. I also always wondered what Augura meant when she told Kira to “call the animals, you have the gift” in the original film. Well Deet is given the power of the Sanctuary Tree, could it be that Kira inherits that power unknowingly from her mother? Deet’s Madura also used the same sound Kira did to call the land strider. The case for Brea being Jen’s mother: I also think there’s a chance for Brea to be Jen’s mother. Brea is Clever and enjoys learning and asking questions, which is interesting since Jen was the most learned between him and and Kira. Kira didn’t even know what writing was until Jen told her they were “ Words that stay.” Jen was the one who was able to read and understand the prophesy they found written on the Gelfling ruins. This is Similar to Brea figuring out the riddle in episode 4 that brought Lore to life. Brea is also seen at the end of the series holding up the lost Crystal shard very reminiscent to how Jen held up the shard before healing the Crystal in the movie. We never see Jen’s parents in the original movie, so what we saw in Deet’s vision could have been Jen’s mother Brea, and not Kira’s mother. I also wonder if Kylan could be Jen’s father. He’s seen playing the same flute-like instrument that Jen plays in the movie. Kylan also has some visual similarities to Jen. Who knows what will end up happening, but stories do tend to have a few twists and turns, so before we assume that Rian is Jen’s father just because of some visual similarities and a brief glimpse of a vision, we should also look at some clues within the story itself too. So I figured I’d put this forth as an idea. As a minimum I do hope Rian and Deet end up together regardless whose parents they are, but for right now I’m thinking Rian and Deet are Kira’s parents and Brea is Jen’s mother.

Jen and Rian have a lot of similar attributes but I think the key is the hair color. I think Brea is being shipped with that in other guy whose name is slipping my mind (Kylen I think?) And they will be Jens parents because her hair has purple like Jen and in the vision it looks like she is running away with her baby which could be how Jen was found by the mystiques. Also as mentioned by someone else Kira has the same animal calling ability as the Grotten Maudra. With that I think theres a good chance shes Rian and Deet's child, especially taking her hair color into consideration.

I shipped these 2 before they met 😂 I was SO happy the moment I started seeing them interacting, I could tell there was going to be something between them! ❤❤ I swear, I have a crush on their relationship! 😂 Currently very depressed after binging the whole season. I'm nervous for how they'll end the series, given all of the gelflings were killed in the start of the original movie. Except the 2. So... I'm wondering how far they'll take the series. I don't want to see Deet or Rian die... Or lots of the others! So I'm a bit nervous lol But the season finale left me with too many sad vibes, I'm scared for Deet. And I need these 2 together. I hope it's not too long before we get season 2! 10 episodes isn't enough! I'm glad that they're not rushing anything though. I feel like their emotions are gradual and they feel right. I love it.

I'm amazed at how well this series turned out. The movie came out when I was only 5 followed by Labyrinth, two of my favorite movies from childhood. I think this might be the best series netflix has done. The cast and crew did an extraordinary job. I'm so glad to see puppetry alive and well, and the CGI work that was used was probably the most impressive I've seen in a series and superior in implementation than many big budget movies.

With this being a prequel of the main Dark Crystal movie, I'm very sure that they will make it as there is rumour that Deet and Rian are Kira's parents. And in my opinion it kinda makes sense with similarity's between the characters. Also Kira's name is similar to Mira who was Rian girl-friend so he would name is daughter Kira to honour her...But change the M or a K.

Possibly spoilers with my theory: So you guys, some bloopers had Rian singing "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera to Deet. Probably just a silly moment to integrate the phrase "No more talk of Darkness", but I feel like he just gave away the second season. You see, the Emporer Skeksis also has an affinity for Darkness, and seeing Deet on that throne made a theory grow in my mind: what if the Emporer tries to trick Deet into joining him, Phantom-of-the-Opera style? I mean, he's not particularly attractive, but now they do have something in common, and Deet feels like she can't be amongst her friends anymore. Maybe he'll seduce her to the dark side, so to speak, and it'll be up to Rian to save her from herself! That's just a theory though.
