There is no bad weather, just non weather sealed equipment 😉. Thanks! Your video motivates to use the next rain shower for some photo session outside. Especially to go for natural light rather than flashing everything away.

Thank you Andrew, I find your videos super relaxing and inspiring. Having moved from the Pacific Northwest to Mississippi has been rough. I was hopeful that there are photos to be had anywhere and that it was just going to be different. Honestly after a year of trying I realized that there are some photos to be had, but opportunity is very different here. So I live vicariously thru KZbin videos like yours when I get in a bad spot. Thank you.

Thank you Andrew that looked like a great trail out & im learning so much more now about macro. Those shots were wonderful, I’m off out for a few hours this afternoon to practice. Have a good week x💕

Some great ideas there! The thing I love most about shooting on a rainy day is it puts off other people from going out, so you get more places to yourself.

The moment of doubt, thinking of that tea and biscuit.. 😂 A little too relatable haha. But once you're home, editing the photos, that tea and biscuit will be so much more enjoyable, after all.

I've been editing all day, catching up, and it's coming on to 'happy hour' but the beer will still be here, I am now inspired to get out there and image some mini landscapes. Thanks for the invitation! Off I go ...

Awesome shots! If you are going to do a lot of Macro in the rain then using the ancient Pentax brand with Pentax lenses then rain is a non issue. The best weather proof camera on the market today!!

You are so lucky to live in a region with sufficient rain which causes so many fresh and vibrant greens in nature. Enjoy it and continue your nice videos. Germany suffers the third drought year within the past four years and we had more forest fires than ever before. Here in the woods, all plants on the ground are limp or dead or went into a drought sleep, and the leaves of the trees either fell down or are matt like dry paper. It looks very shocking and macro photography is impossible. Your video brings hope for better (wetter) times to my mind.

I’ve got a solid macro kit & rain gear. I’ve got rain. What I’m missing is the mental fortitude to go walking in the rain. I’ll make it happen soon, though. Good vidya.

Nice video, Andrew, lots of great tips here! I've been doing macro work on film, but I can see that under these conditions, a weathersealed camera with a tiltable screen is a great advantage.

Another fantastic video :-) But my main feeling was envy - of you being in a country where you can wear waterproofs in early September, and not die. Here in Tokyo I think that is only possible in January and February - seriously!! The heat and/or humidity kills you otherwise. Really, my best moment on the video was the start! I felt so jealous.

I would recommend you get some knee pads used in construction or the military - stays put nicely and don't have to faff around with the bubble wrap. When not in use you can push them down to your ankles so they don't get in the way of walking around if that's an issue.
@AndrewLanxonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
That's a good tip!

Saw a recent Mike Moats video where he was wearing them and have put them on my list of gear I need. I usually carry a garden pad. It’s cheap, but sometimes I want to be more mobile.

Did you have any issues with the focus stacking and the flash (@ min 9:50)? I imagine with each shot the flash was at a slightly different angle and cast slightly different shadows. Just curious. I have never done a focus stack with flash. It could make for good content; a discussion of how that worked out in post. Beautiful shot btw.

Loved this. Great shots. My macro lens is an 85mm Nikon and I use it on my Nikon D500. I’m going to see what my camera has for focus bracketing. We have had a rather dry summer here in Delaware, USA but fall is coming. Have a lovely cup of tea, Andrew, and as always, thank you for sharing.
