The colour and texture on the bases of the trees makes me feel legitimately ill. Excellent work.

Is this where you learnt the gross pva + super glue technique?

"... I hope you are disgusted." :D I love the Werner Herzog delivery of that line. The terrain is totally fantastic and very inspirational.

Fun use of colours! Love the different take on Nurgle. Instead of having the regular variations of green(which gets boring really quick), this is really interesting to look at! Great job mate!

Thanks, i love the classic green nurgle look too, but sometimes you want something different.

Might work exceedingly well for games set in the Meatropolis (from the _A Blasted, Cratered Land_ blog). A homebrew setting that basically posits what would happen if the residents of a Discworld-esque locale had the disk they lived on fly off into space, and are forced to take shelter within the body of the giant space turtle their world originally sat on. And then what would happen if the residents of the new meat-society accidentally killed the turtle, leaving folks to eke out whatever living they can within the slowly dying corpse of the world turtle.

What thickness of MDF board do you recommend? Tried this with chipboard and I got a lot of bowing. Awesome video too!
@DarkMatterWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
This was 3mm mdf. Mdf warps too if you go too big, this piece was fairly small so I had no problem. Thanks !

When the, Terrain Builders Oscars , becomes a thing....you'd better start preparing your acceptance speech! That base is a genuine work of art, build one; 2metres x 3metres and you'll be in the gallery! Btw about that sawdust mix, do you have a more detailed tutorial? I've used S/dust, wallpaper paste, plaster-of-paris, powdered chalk, PVA etc in papier-mache paste making for years [trying different recipes] but that simple 2part mix has eluded me. I would love to know more. Have you considered a little two-part epoxy brushed over the 'fleshy' bits to give them a wet look?
@DarkMatterWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
Thank u very much sir ! The sawdust recipe is : 90% fine sawdust/10% wallpaper glue. That’s it really 😀 ad water ‘till you reach a paste like consistency. Takes a while to dry and shrinks but gives instant bark texture and is very strong yet flexible, expect more tuts. with this material. The inks used give a semi gloss effect. I went with more subtle gradings of wetness with this piece but epoxy would work perfectly.

Can you make those plastic bag imprints in foam board instead of clay?
@DarkMatterWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
No, the plastic is to soft to make indentations. I’d use heat to make fleshy texture on foam or PVA and superglue.
@maxfreise51449 күн бұрын
My clay cracked and turned brittle. Was it too thin?
@DarkMatterWorkshop8 күн бұрын
Could be, cracking is a fairly normal reaction though.
