930 kg / acre / y ==> 230 grams / sqm / y, so basically each square meter of forest absorbs the emissions of a car driven for 1 km, and you would need 17 million square km of forest to offset the emission of all the cars, which is the size of US + Canada. A square meter of solar panel can offset ~50 kg of CO2/year, which is ~200 times more than a tree. There is nothing wrong with planting trees, and we *must* preserve our forests, but planting trees won't fix climate change.

One of the best and fastest ways to sequester carbon is in the seas where kelp can grow. Their looking at it now. Kelp can grow 60 centre meters a day that’s a 100 metres a year. So image large Kelp Forests. It’s faster growing than any tree for faster results. Until we get mature trees as well. Our Scientists are working on it. To sequester carbon into the sea bed. Scientists are also working on large extractor fans in conjunction with solar farms to extract and recondense carbon from the atmosphere.

Yep, we agree that kelp really is amazing stuff!! We're big fans! We actually did a video on it a little while back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGa0fpWGbqpsg9k. It's exciting that there's so much work being done in this space. Thank you for your comment! :)

When rates per acre are compared, Prairielands sequester more carbon in their soil that do forests. Forest are very important, but don't forget Prairielands. thanks. Prairielands can be established faster that forests grow. Of course we are all in this together. best of luck.

How could you talk about forest without talking about biochar and terra preta do índio? Before defining a vertical know how let's see what other groups/civilizations found to revert CO2 emissions through agroforestry.

Bullcrap i have seen plants grow in clay mud hell i should know I live in nenraska the soil around here is crap but we got fields everywhere. Plants and trees get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis. Soil fertility is not that relevant. Its definitely a good thing that they are growing faster and absorbing more co2
