Ogni volta che ascolto questa canzone - non importa il cantante o l'arrangiamento o gli strumenti usati - provo le stesse emozioni della prima volta che l'ho ascoltata, nella mia prima adolescenza. Non so come la pensano gli altri , ma ci sono delle canzoni che durano per sempre. Sono eterne, sono incise nella storia della nostra vita, così che ascoltandolle indipendentemente dalla nostra età, veniamo rimandati a quel momento dell'esistenza inciso nella nostra memoria. I am always touched by nostalgia when I hear this song, it is so beautifully written. I just found a way to make this song get me even more happily teary: I listened to your cover while I turned around and watched my six year old son play with Lego while he watched Power Rangers on tv. Now THAT made this song hit me right in my heart. I just discovered you guys with your Nine Inch Nails cover of Hurt and you are amazing. It's so profound - death. Something about this act is so personal, so profound that it changes one. Whether it is the vice on the heart that is gripped by grief or the pit of the stomach in watching one's loved one fade into oblivion. Whatever it may be, I don't think one is ever the same. There is a sorrow, assuredly, that lingers always in the crook of one's mouth or in the bend of one's knee or a weight on one's chest, or pain in the gut.
