He REALLY doesn't get the respect he deserves. This is one THE GREATEST early punk records, imho. Production, vocals, lyrics AND drums? The guy was just INSANELY talented. This album forever changed the way I look at him as a musician.
@burbeefylimowhitz99084 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! The whole band was insanely talented! I remember the first time I heard The Jabbers I was totally blown away because I'd heard the Murder Junkies and heard all the stories (friends of mine a bit older than me were at his last show & had seen him a few times) & read about him so I thought I knew what he was all about but his early stuff was so different & so good I'm still listening to it 25 years later!

Saying GG Allin was 'insanely talented' is like saying Aunt Jemima was 'incredibly white.'
@StockpileThomas14 жыл бұрын
Yea. This tune ain't bad but c'mon GG got famous for his actions, not his music.
@franklinbumgartener13234 жыл бұрын
@Trashcan Troubadour I'll agree with all of that. However, GG is mainly praised these days for what really only amounted to self-destructive and talent-sapping behavior like substance abuse, violence, narcissism, exhibitionism, etc., etc. I find self-destroyers, like G G, to be sad and pathetic more than anything else, especially the ones who had legitimate talent and squandered it. Praising as heroes those who become to tragic victims of their own selfish choices happens all to often these days... But these are counterfeit heroes, in my opinion, more to be pitied than praised.
@franklinbumgartener13234 жыл бұрын
@Trashcan Troubadour I'm glad to hear you made it out! Thank the Lord for that. Many, as you well know, never make it out and remain trapped. For what it's worth, I've worked with and counseled substance abusers of various stripes for the past 12 years and I have become convinced that there is nothing wrong with judging their behavior as being evil and dangerous. In fact they need to hear trusted people tell them so. It's unpleasant news but it's the truth and it's no more inappropriate to offer than a doctor informing his patient of a deadly diagnosis. Truth is, it would be unloving of the doctor is he refused to tell his patient the bad news... And also the addicts (at least the ones who want help) already know what they're doing is bad and they need stable folks around them who will reinforce the fact even as they would work to help the addict crawl out of the dark... In a word, let me encourage you to rethink your position about not offering judgment on this particular issue. You know it's bad because you've been there. You know it's bad because you've seen it destroy friends and loved ones..... But by the grace of God you made it out. People need to hear you story my friend! The addicts need the truth if they're to find hope. (I'll end my sermon now... thank for your patience...)

In 1983 I was in a band in Orlando Florida called the Illbred Youth. We covered this song at a battle of the bands. I chose to enlist in the military and it ruined my life. But our bass player went on to form The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. The ever loving Dino Everett. We were friends in jr high school and he turned me on to music that was not on the radio in florida back then. I love you like a brother Dino and wish you the best!

A definite punkrock classic. before he started to sounds more like a shitbag. But it was 3 to 4 years later and punk transformed a lot in those years of 1978 to 1981. But then again Bad Religion started gaining traction after that believe it or not, Circle Jerks were popular, The Exploited in England. I just loved it all, so no need to devise for me.
