The 2% or 3.5% charges levied on CC called the markup charges are levied on network exchange rates i.e. VISA or Mastercard network rate which is already 1-2% higher than bullion rates. So effective even a 2% + GST + network rates would effective;y make it 4% approx

Welcome. Yes, it's the same. You can either get a single currency card or a multicurrency card and top up as per your requirement. If you use a single currency card say US Dollar card and swipe it for Euro, then you will pay cross currency charges. However, if you have multi currency card, then you can top up both US Dollar and Euro in one card. Then you won't have to pay cross currency charges.

Indian Banks charge 3.5% of transaction amount + Rs 118 per transaction. In addition, foreign banks may also charge a fee which is normally in the range of Rs 500 per transaction. However, sometimes, foreign banks don't charge and only Indian Banks charge.

There is a 2% foreign currency mark up fee whenever you swipe the card plus GST on the 2%. So, if you swipe for Rs 100, you will be charges extra Rs 2 and 18% GST on Rs 2 i.e Rs 0.36. So, in total, if you swipe Rs 100, then you will be charged Rs 2.36 extra

Niyo card is quite good. Otherwise, all other forex cards are almost the same. If possible, try to get an HDFC Infinia Credit Card. That's the best option because you are charged 2% for forex conversion but get back 3.33% in rewards resulting a net profit of 1.33%
