Hey so I got a bit of an unrelated question to this video topic, but let's say we're trading with a US broker and have to divide our Longs and Shorts into two separate accounts like you're doing. How often do you move money around between the accounts to keep them balanced? Do you make them 50/50 after each trade?
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
I love this question...well thought out. I usually balance them each day. And make them 50/50 of "available margin" So not NAV or gross margin. That way I have good margin no matter what way the market decides to go. Hope this helps!!

Hello, Great video and reslly helped to clarify lots and units. I dont mean to pry, but do you think its possible to make a living trading this way? If so, how much capital do you think that would realistcially require?
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
Yes!!! I do think you can make a living. I am averaging 3-5% each month. As far as capital needed, I guess it depends on how much you need to make a living….

@@theforexhedgewhat is your maximum drawdown with the hedge-trimming method?
@ForexStoryteller Жыл бұрын
Only thing ive noticed with trimming lots versus units, youre changing the sizes of 1000 units for every 0.01 change in lot size, so when applying lots, you may end up closing less and keeping more. This happens because 0.01 at 40 pips is $2.69, not much on smaller accounts, may not work well trimming small positions. I see that on my calculator. Almost done with that but i have a missing step. Ill need to add that and while doing so ill make more functions because im making spaghetti in the trim outputs now 😂
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
yes, this is true. So you just have to be aware of that when you are trimming. but the overall concept is the same between the two. Bigger profits offset smaller losses. Trim the Hedge!!!!

If you can trade long and short in the same account, what would be my ideal lot size per trade be with a $5000 account on 1:500 leverage?
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
Definitely find your preferred risk tolerance. But I'd consider .50 lots or less. If you were a unit guy, I would say 50,000 units or less. I think you will find at that leverage you will be able to scale up, but leverage can get real dangerous real fast. so I would start small and go from there.

Do a video where you make reference to amount per trade and not lots or units That would help me understand your videos..... Thanks

What happens if your initial position, say short goes against you and the price never retraces, what happens to your margin?
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
yea, this happens all the time. Just trim the hedge from the other side. For example: Your initial trade was planning for the market to go down. It did exactly the opposite and went up and picked up your stop order. Now you're hedged, if it continues to go up then trim from the upside. Let's say it does a full reversal and goes right back down and through your short position. Then you would trim the hedge from the downside. Same strategy, works both ways. hope this helps!!!

Ya think 5000 units is too big for a 100.00 attempt ( 2 x 50.00 accounts) with hedges on structure of lower timeframes to get lots of trimming and sqozing experience. Your thoughts......

Playing around with it today....I love this calculator!
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
yes, I think 5,000 units is to big for 100.00. Maybe 1,000 units or oven 750 units and make sure you have a feel for you drawdown, swap etc. Sounds small, but growing an account takes a while. just my opinion.......
@worthlessman6860 Жыл бұрын
Yeah .50 cents on 50.00 gives me only 100 pips to play with... maybe a dime would be better until I get the hang of it....gives me a 500 pip range instead ......surely I can't hurt myself with that....thanks, needed your experience on that!! @@theforexhedge

hi I left a buy stop 12 pips away from the price last weekend (AUDUSD) but it was executed in the end. :/ can this happen over the weekend even its raw spread?
@dotcypher Жыл бұрын
@davidankrapp7773 so is there a way to avoid then? Don't place buy or sell stops over the weekend?
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
Hey, one thing to consider. Putting your hedge in before the market closes on Friday. For example, let's say you are 15 pips away from you stop order from being triggered. And you are going into the weekend. you can always open it manually and then have the comfort that you won't have any issues or be skipped over if the market gaps. Just a thought....If I'm at full size or close to I will often do this to avoid big spreads or potential gap up or gap downs.
@dotcypher Жыл бұрын
@davidankrapp7773 it doesn't break me. I'm just risking 2% per trade. It's just that everyone has its own strategy and glad to find @theforexhedge works for me and I'm incorporating his strategy with mine. I'm just prefer to close my trade completely if I can. If I'm hedged, then I have to play the hedging game. ;)

dude you must be psychic! I have been meaning to ask, do you have a mitigation for lots. This morning even I had a EU hedge (part 1).14 to close $840 out of the money, with a short .4 $340 in the money. Calc said close .05 lots and it worked out as $18 profit not 40.
@theforexhedge Жыл бұрын
oh my, far from phsychic. So, I'm not sure how your trade was an 18.00 profit. If you had 340 to work with and closed .05 of the .14 position you should have had a 40.00 profit on the trade. Did you have some commissions that it deducted out, or something along those lines?
