Somehow what you said reminded me of the combined insanity and hilarity that was inevitable if you had a Night Goblin horde back in the days of Warhammer FB. Your picture of grot tanks surrounded by hordes of grots somehow gave me a mental image of the good old days of Fanatics and Doom Divers causing more casualties to their own units than their enemies. Holy sit, is the Stompa meant to be the Ork's interpretation of Yarrick? It's got the Evil-eye, like Yarrick got because the Orks thought he did, and the claw is very similar to Yarrick's.

lol yeah, just. GUARDSMEN: hey sir that one kinda looks like you. YARRIK: its a long story

Yea, for a new codex i'd see another special rule coming; because Orkz believe Yarrick is unstoppable, he will not die. Given the elderly commissar is aged 3x beyond the natural human lifespan, gives credit to this believe. When Yarrick has died, he will come back 2x a battle when fighting Orks, 1x fighting other factions.

Squiggoth's mounted fortification is called a Howdah. In Arabic it was a shaded seat on a camel, but it was adopted for use on elephants. It is the same concept on a Squiggoth. Tolkien called the large cloth and wood fortifications on Mumakil Howdahs, too. :)

I think what Forge World has managed to do, is design models which look ramshackle but still functional. GW recently has been steering towards ramshackle and comical with their recent Ork releases. I'm not gonna lie, when my son got me into Warhammer 40k I went a little nuts on buying orks. I currently own 1 Gargantuan Squigoth, 2 regular Squigoths, 1 Mega Dread, 1 Kill Bursta, Ork Battle Wagon with Supa Kannon and 4 Grot Tanks. The Gargantuan Squigoth is by far my favorite and everyone else that I play against. It's just so massive and fun in a way that Orks can be fun. That's what drew me to them as my favorite faction to play. I can't believe how fortunate I am to have found all of these at prices less than that of FW, but buying from people who are getting out of WH40K is the best way to buy up models at a discounted rate. I would suggest hitting your local game shops, FB market place or even Ebay. Make offers, you never know what someone is willing to take. That's how my son got a Warlord Titan. Never say never and just pray they say yes.
@M0U53B41T4 жыл бұрын
The Stompa arms are actually quite well connected, there's a flat attachment point with a pokey bit that sticks into the actual body - the shoulder pieces are worse for attaching actually. The Mega Grot tank always reminds me of a battleship, just for grots. The grot tanks are awesome though I have to admit I've had to do a bit of work on their resin because of the quality in places. Kromlech did versions that are just better tbh. But they do all look good especially next to the Mega Tank as you mention. I definitely would buy what ever it is you really want before they go OOP! I'm lucky I was able to get a Chinork from a friend or I'd not have one, and it's such an awesome model
@KuroRyu5234 жыл бұрын
I have some grot tanks, they're a slight pain to put together and my one annoyance with the kit is that it only comes with one of each main gun so you either have to buy multiples or get creative if say, like me, you want them to all have KMBs. @@KuK137 To be fair, that was a $220 set that had only one new set of new models per faction each. I'm not counting the named characters, since players can only ever field one and as such are immediately discouraged from purchasing the bundle more than once. Rather than filling the box set out with more Banshees, Incubi or more synergistic units, GW decided to fill out the Craftworld side with 20+ year old vehicles. While the Dark Eldar got off a bit better with their selection, they're still a relatively niche pick among xenos players. What's more, of all the Xenos vs Xenos pairings they could've done (Eldar vs Necrons, Dark Eldar vs T'au, Eldar vs Orks, Dark Eldar vs Tyranids), they elected to make an elf vs elf set. It's not hard to see why it didn't appeal to all the xenos players.

@Oliolli34 жыл бұрын
It'll be difficult. There is only one Grot HQ - Makari - and he's a named character so only one is allowed in an army. Also he's a Goff so you can't use the Gretchin only subkultur. Other than that, there are Gretchin (troops), Killa Kans and Mek Guns (Heavy support), Da Red Gobbo (Elite) and Grot Tanks and the Grot Mega-Tank (Fast attack). Also you need to have a Big Mek if you want to field any Grot Tanks.
@jacobjohnston39834 жыл бұрын
Grots don't have HQ's but if you wanna be sneaky, just convert grot versions of Ork HQ's! I've made a grot warboss, weirdboy and a mega armored big mek. In-game, these units won't actually get the grot mobs bonus, but that's WAY better than just having no HQ's at all, and kitbashing is hella fun!
