Good work, i can just recommend using a roller to lay the carbon evenly so it will save you lots of time sanding after

Sorry for asking noob questions,may I know what is the name for blue colour plastic and white colour cloth before your put inside the vacuum bag ?

What peel ply is it you used? Is it a nylon ply? The last one I got leaves too much texture. Thanks!

Excuse me sir 😅 did you use a plastic bag instead of peel ply?
@LXGspec4 жыл бұрын
haha nah, iirc in the other video I explained I was goin without peel ply directly for the perforated release film because everything will be fairly dry to begin with and I dont want the peel ply to soak up epoxy nor do I want the peel ply pull off the flakes afterwards.
@amirulfahmijasni4 жыл бұрын
@@LXGspec ohh you already explained in another video.. Sorry, this is the first video I saw on your channel 😅 I understand better now.. I just want to start making this forged carbon too.. then youtube recommend your video.. Sorry my english is not too good.. I am from Malaysia .. still learning to improve my english 😅 anyways thanks for your explanation 😁👍🏻

😅 What is the difference between putting it in a vacuum pack without applying resin like you and putting it in a vacuum pack after applying resin?There are people who apply resin and put it in vacuum packs. I don't know the difference.What's wrong?😭

Hi sir. What type of primer did you use? Im planning to do skinning carbon forged too. But with plastic (motorcycle parts) should i use plastic primer first before applying gelcoat for better bonding?

what is the material of the blue film bro

It's a regular plastic release film!

This is awesome. I'm getting ready to fix a lip myself with chopped carbon fiber. Where did you get the bags and stuff? I think this is the method I'm going to go as well
@LXGspec3 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude, I got basically everything from Easy Composites in the UK!

What size of chopped fiber did you use?

How do you plan to post cure the resin? With the xcr, if you don't post cure it to a temperature similar to what it will reach on the car in the sun, it will ripple. You ideally need to bake the parts at near 50c for a good few hours before the final and and clear coat.
@LXGspec4 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary, Thanks for letting me know, this is literally the first time I hear about this. I've been using the XCR for years carbon skinning all sorts of car stuff and it has never rippled up on me, but if you're 100% sure then I can take it to a friend who has a big enough oven for these sort of things as I don't have one sadly.

Does the weight of the fenders feel heavier with the amount of material added?
@LXGspec4 жыл бұрын
I reckon it is probably a bit heavier but not significantly in my opinion, most of the epoxy added is sanded off afterall and the covering surface is not very thick. I'll try to weigh things next time I do something like this!
