Is that because of lack of testing? (no this isn't a Trump joke). Is it one of those things where you need to be "invited" in some way to try? or is it a matter of lots of people just failing? or is it a matter of people just don't care that much about a title to go through the ABS testing?

Somehow, I feel that these mistakes he made in this episode are very intentional. I noticed the way this episode focused on his feeling as the competitor and going through the same struggle that he has said many times before. Furthermore, it is very suspicious for him to make just a simple mistake while other aspects are almost flawless. This is just a theory I came up with.

It would be neat to have a full episode (maybe an off-season special) where Ben, J, and Dave compete against each other to make something truly special. Reasonable timeframe, no special challenge, just an opportunity to show off the best they can do. Could even get Jason in on it if he were willing. This guy builds every of his blade to endure his own brutal test. You can tell Jay bashes every contestant's blade mercilessly because this is what he has been doing to his own creations. The grip is rough but in strength test, the blade just demolish the hard targets. Some smiths are known to make strong blades. Their weapons can be used to do things what you usually can't get away with. But that finger groove, man I can't tell you how many times a bad grip design has hurt my hand, especially during test cutting hard targets.

Jay made some awesome blades... just sad about the finger-wells... I'm glad to see Jay handled the situation with a lot of class... but on the tree stab, Jay's blades were amazing - digging out chunks of wood... Burt's swords were so thin but still held-up so well against the stump - that was also very impressive... Burt's blades looked like they were stabbing warm butter against the ballistics-dummy... while J's blades took its head... wow... nice to see how different and how excellent both sets of blades were... glad to see the best overall swords won... but both were stunning and unique... both guys are master smiths :) Fantastic episode!

@Navajonkee

@@tovin09 That's what Doug says. He doesn't say "kill", he says "keal". It is sort of a running joke with the show, the way Doug says the word, and he even confirmed that he intentionally says it as "keal", as an abbreviation of "Keep Everyone ALive". This is an attempt at being more family-friendly, but more importantly, it's a meme.

@@Navajonkee well, I appreciate the thought and I understand the concept...but after slaughtering those pig bodies and carcasses so brutally, with blood all over him, saying keal...anyone would hear that as kill as it makes common sense.. and I felt the same, that's it. I only stated the fact that it's disturbing..nothing to debate here...
