@@maxortega8073 you missed the point. Tims was a historically accurate shamshir while the other guy just made a saber with exaggerated curve. It wasn't about how he could do it better but about the general bias in the show towards towards hard chunks of metal because of the flashy nature of the tests. Used properly the lighter shamshir would be devastating from horseback. Just don't aim for the skull.

@@b_f_d_d I would like to know what the weight difference was. Real swords were not heavy. You could find yourself having to swing the thing for hours in a real battle. It was a huge balancing act to to make a sword that was strong enough and light enough and balanced enough and able to defeat armor well enough. Almost no sword perfectly manages all of the competing requirements. In this show they abuse a sword for a few minutes. That makes heavier weapons better for the show. They were not necessarily better in real life situations.

Mora like a twist of the while Blade than a dent, but yup, he sure performed better

Maybe it was just my inexperienced eye but I thought Tim’s blade was crooked after he tried to fix it.

Tim's sword dulled quicker and picked up a bend in the blade. It would not have lasted as long in everyday combat. The other guy's sword may have been heavier, but the wielder can adapt to the weight; where as weak and soft steal will always be weak and soft until it is REFORGED.

Anybody else see the swapped out footage of the two swords at 5:52 ? You'll see the brass cross guard instead of the matte steel/silver of the sword that is supposed to be used at the time. It gets switched back to footage of the first one at the third fish after an edit cut. Back to the matte steel.

In my country (iran or persia) shamshir means the sword and we don't use the word as a kind of sword
