Im skeptical. While they boast a similar population and rival china’s working age demographic during its prime, India’s education and literacy rate result in a less productive workforce overall. Not to mention the huge amount of brain drain. Contrary to popular opinion, i think india’s democratic system is actually a con rather than a plus, the system begets excessive bureaucracy e.g. transportation between state lines is a lengthier process, meaning it takes a longer time to get to port, and shipped out to client nations which will no doubt be factored into the cost of doing business with india.
