This is very important to talk about. I've had one person go off on one about what recovery should be. He thought it should be all or nothing. He couldn't understand how someone could drink for three days, and stop for three days and then continue that cycle. There were several people (including me) who would've felt personally attacked based on what they'd revealed in past meetings but he didn't seem to care. But I didn't let it ruin the meeting for me.

Thanks, Roger. I was just bummed to be exposed to this debacle my first time returning to that meeting in over a year.

Oh, thanks for the sub, BTW.

@@ShadesOClarity like you said these people are few and far between. But to go back & be confronted with that must have felt horrible. It's good to tell people that this isn't the norm too. Sometimes I want to shout at people and say '95% of AA isn't about religion at all!' but people need to go on their own journey I guess.

Good stuff shades. Going to AA fornthenfirst time can be nerve wracking enough under the best of circumstances, nevermond when bullshit like that happens. Good on you for standimg up to the guy. In most meetings that I've been to, crosstalk isn't allowed andnthe chairperson or whoever is running the meeting usually stops that in its tracks. But yeah, there's been more than a few meeting that I've been to where I've thought to myself that if I wad a newcomer and this was my first experience with AA I'd never come back. Boy do I have some stories. Thanks for the Content.

No problem, Ron. It was uncomfortable for sure. I had to get my licks in. He wasn't gonna get away with it. I probably won't go back to that meeting unless I find ahead if "Mike" is going to be there.

@@ShadesOClarity yeah. And that's really a shame because we're all there to get and stay sober. Behavior like that risks someone else's sobriety. I certainly wouldn't have kept my mouth shut either.

There was one person, employee, front desk person at the place i went , he was just mean, nasty, rude to me, nobody else. All day, everyday. I dont recall anything i said, did, that made him so rude. Nice to all the other students, but when it came to me. No eye contact, talked emotionless, like I was an inconvenience his time and space
