I have a wife and 4 kids so when he was talking about making family top priority, i felt that. I dont travel and hunt, but i try to hunt every chance i get, and im extremely blessed to have a wife that doesnt suck and allows me to enjoy hunting. It can be tough sometimes because i know there are times when she really would rather me not hunt but she knows i only get so many days because of work and if im successful that means meat in the freezer and with 4 kids we need a lot! I also really like his midset of just go hunt. No cameras, no corn, just go get in the woods and hunt. Thats how i was taught to hunt by my daddy and i find more joy hunting that way than hunting over a feeder.

I really appreciate your podcasts, as a new hunter in the past couple years in NC. I’ve only harvested 1 buck on public land, it’s the only deer I’ve gotten period. He was a 2 year old w a broken antler, a 6 point as he was but was prob a 8 point. I pretty much only have the option to hunt on public. But these podcasts have been great information and have really helped me understand what I need todo and look for. I plan on buying some trail cams to locate and scout deer. Appreciate y’all

This was a powerful podcast, best one I’ve heard yet. Not enough guys talk about the three things you need to actually be successful and that is time, money, and support. I have a 10 month old and I felt this one for sure, my wife knows I love hunting but doesn’t understand it but I try like hell to do everything I can to make sure she is good when I’m gone for a day or even just an afternoon. Racks on the wall won’t be there for you when you need support the most , but a wife and kids will, so set your priorities right

Talking about the importance of prioritizing your family and life over hunting✅. A conversation that you don’t hear much about!

I’d have to say that’s prob one the best I’ve listen of all the ones y’all have put out. Being blessed to have a wife that loves to hunt also and supports me doing it, this still gives a humbling feeling and I had to tell her thank you for supporting my passion.

In my opinion, one of the best down to earth episodes you’ve done. I’m a hunter from SWVA and he talks about some much that is relatable hunting our area and what hunting has become. Is there a way you can post his tag his podcast, it’ll be my #2 right behind yours!

Enjoyed the entire episode. I commented on a short from this on your page, so I won’t say the same thing again, but all I can is I’m thankful I married a man who shares the same passion as I do with being outdoors. We bought 120 HEAVILY wooded and mountainous acres in WV and we take turns going up to the blinds, and on Thanksgiving we’ll send all the males to hunt together while the kids all stay back with the Moms. The amount of riding we have, room for our kids to build and raise their families, etc. Land isn’t cheap, but it is far more superior to any amount of material debt most of our society continues to bleed themselves dry from. This is a podcast I’d let my boys watch, by the way, and our kids don’t have KZbin privileges at all!

100 percent agree with the early season cold front statement. I have noticed it for several years in Southeastern Ky. An unseasonably cold temp drop will stifle movement. I have also noticed a lot of midday movement early in September during the hottest parts of the day.

8:23 this speaks volumes to me as a newer public land hunter. I can see where i go wrong. I can find all the little scrubs and never get on the biggun. Learning those buck trails and secondary thick edges is nearly impossible to me. I'm to focused on the doe trails and not looking deeper.

Honestly, as an Arkansawyer, he’s speaking my language. In Arkansas, we’re fortunate to have everything from the Ozark and Quachita Mountains, ag land, to the Mississippi delta. A lot of South Arkansas is timber plantation. But hunting the mountains is just like that, you are wasting your time worrying so much about the wind, and focus on where deer appear ‘active’, not their bedroom.

Man, that was a really good podcast. I don't remember a podcast that wasn't, but this one stood above most of the others for real life and for killing those goats.

Going off feeling…man..boys..sometimes, you just get that gut feeling, that voice in your head that says “sit here, this is the spot”…most of the time, when I listen to that voice, I’ll see deer and often harvest one. Gotta trust the intuition ladies and gents.

We were pushing a small piece of land several years ago when I was a little kid. I was spread out with the walkers (with no gun) and we got about halfway thru the walk and we looked behind us and a giant old brute of a 10 point got up from a brush pile right next to where I walked and ran out backwards away from Us. I walked right next to that sucker I’ll never forget. I would’ve had to kick him up like a quail or pheasant hunkered down.
