Super shady what c j did. From the very first Huntr podcast interview he did, I thought a lot sounded suspicious. From gettin dropped off at "half sisters" house/farm cuz of sisters mom not liking him, to borrowing a cross bow, to having no cell phone supposedly with him. Then had the audacity to go on those hunters advantage guys podcast and stick to his poaching lies. Warren I appreciate your frustration and anger because I'm with you. That punk took that amazing once in a lifetime opportunity away from somone. Somone had that deers sheds from the previous year and somone had pictures of that deer. I agree that certain poaching crimes should result in jail time along with a big fine. Especially because they have the evidence in the msgs that he was doing it for money. Until game and fish laws result in jail time. People will still walk the fine line of being scum bags over honesty. Great podcast dudes. Fellow midwest dude here hammering it in west central Illinois. Best of luck this season to all none poachers!

I’m glad someone else felt the same way I did when all this started. The deer was killed right by my work and where he claimed to have killed it is down the street from my house. This was a well known deer in the Wilmington area. He needs jail time not just a fine and suspension. He’s clearly hunted without a license, a suspension isn’t going to stop him.

Great episode guys. People need to forgive him, but he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law so others will think twice about breaking the law. Don't feel bad Warren I have never found a 80" shed and I probably never will. Good luck guys.

I've had 4 days to go hunting so far, 2 mornings & 2 evenings. Haven't seen one yet. Their coming through about an hour n half before & after dark on the cams. Ill keep going out till till I can come across them at right time & fill some tags. I don't care about trophy's I want meat. Sure if a huge buck walks out in front of me, I'll take it. But I'm not chasing or waiting for one. I just wanna fill some tags so I can get back to fishing more often. Hunting seals some of my fishing day. Much rather chase big bass & striper in the kayak!

I also dont really understand why yall and him to go to jail either? The read out his punishment and it seemed like he didn't get off lightly as well. I personally think it's too easy for someone who's never been to jail to send others. If they knew what it were really like then they would almost certainly sing a different tune. I disagree. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but I think CJ should have been charged with trespassing, property damage, and jack lighting and hunting without a license from the year before with the 8 point he took. I think charging him for poaching is unconstitutional because no one owns wildlife. Big ranches and farms have hired security, surveillance cameras, and have game wardens patrol their property to prevent trespassing. CJ did take the buck with by legal means during season and during legal hours he just did it on property he did not have permission. From everything I've gathered, he harvested it on an oil company beside the city dump and a farm owned by the DA. I did not see trespassing listed on the indictment which further makes me believe it was harvested on the oil company's property. Regardless, he should have been charged with criminal trespassing for everytime he accessed the property to hunt or pack corn. Let's say 10 counts and due to his goal of taking a huge buck, should have got the maximum charge (fine or jail time) times 10 for trespassing. If it was $1,000 dollar max fine and up to 30 days in jail, he should have been fined $10,000, got 10 months of jail time, and carried whatever fines for spotlighting and hunting without a licenses. But because no one owns wildlife, he should have gotten to keep the deer. If the oil company didn't want to press charges, he shouldn't have even been charged with trespassing. It should be left to landowners to safeguard their property from trespassers by putting up fences, no hunting signs, cameras, and hiring security or checking themselves. I think if this would have made it to the Supreme Court the law that equates trespassing to poaching would e overturned. I wouldn't care if trespassing carried a 25,000 dollar fine, he didn't kill the deer illegally, just on someone else's land. If you shoot a deer and it runs onto someone else's property, you retrieve it withoutpermission, that's trespassing. Curious to hear people's counters.
@dustinxsmith2 ай бұрын
The definition of poaching literally proves your entire point wrong. “illegally hunt or catch (game or fish) on land that is not one's own or in contravention of official protection.”. He did kill the deer illegally. No license, trespassing, relocating to cover a crime. He broke a ton of laws while in pursuit & when he shot it. The “people” own the deer & that’s who he stole it from. The “official protection” is the state laws put in place I.e hunting seasons, bag limits, number of tags, etc.
@T-Mak-s7x2 ай бұрын
Plus nobody really knows if he shot it in daylight or dark or who knows? Because it seems if CJ’s jaws are open then don’t listen to what’s coming out of those jaws.
